What are GREAT Scholarships?
GREAT scholarships are jointly funded by The University of Manchester with the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign and the British Council.
About the GREAT Scholarship for The University of Manchester
If you’re considering a postgraduate degree in the UK, then a GREAT scholarship can help.
GREAT Scholarship is offering £10,000 (~9.6 Lacs INR) towards tuition fees for one-year master’s programmes in specific subject areas to students from India and Nigeria, who will enrol in the 2022/23 academic year.
Five (5) scholarships are available and applications will open to relevant offer-holders from November 2021. A scholarship application form will be emailed to all relevant offer-holders by the International Office.
Eligibility Criteria
Academic excellence over and above the criteria required for admission to the PGT programme selected;
Proficiency in English language;
GREAT scholars must:

be a citizen of a Nigeria or India

be motivated and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course. meet the English language requirement of the UK University

be willing to embody the UK higher education experience, by attending lectures and tutorials and engaging with extra-curricular activities, and act as an ambassador for UK higher education, by promoting the value of studying at a UK University
-
be willing to establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment
-
represent the high standards of the GREAT brand by becoming an advocate for scholarships

be willing to attend a networking event of all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK
-
be willing to demonstrate future contribution to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement through the benefits achieved after graduating from UK higher education

be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships, by sharing experiences of studying in the UK with future GREAT scholars as an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships

be willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK
Additional Criteria for Indian Justice and Law scholarships only
In addition to the above criteria, applicants for the Indian Justice and Law Scholarships must also:

have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate law programme at a UK university

be active in the field with work experience or with a proven interest in justice and law

Scholarships on Offer for Indian Students
Important Dates
Scholarships can only be awarded to applicants who have:

received a conditional or unconditional offer to study at The University of Manchester by June 1, 2022;
-
submitted a scholarship application form by June 1, 2022.
The scholarship application form will be emailed to all relevant offer-holders by the International Office.
Successful applicants will be notified by June 17, 2022 and will be required to firmly accept their offer of a place by June 30, 2022 in order to confirm their scholarship.
