About the Fellowship Programme
Migration and Asylum Project’s Catalyst for Change Fellowship Programme is a comprehensive training programme for law school graduates who are interested in refugee law and migration studies. It is designed to provide a dynamic learning experience and a transformative career opportunity for early-career lawyers who are passionate about social justice issues.
About the Organization
Migration & Asylum Project also known as MAP is India’s first and only law centre for refugee law and migration studies. It was previously known as Ara Legal Initiative and was founded in the year 2013 under the aegis of its parent organization, The Ara Trust which is based in New Delhi, India.
It provides legal aid and counselling to asylum seekers and refugees in India. It uses innovative methods to increase and strengthen the protection landscape and fuel systemic change for forced migrants and refugees, especially women and children. It operates as a centre for law and policy.

Opportunities and Benefits

During the Migration and Asylum Project’s Catalyst for Change Fellowship Programme, the fellows will have the opportunity to gain academic as well as field experience in refugee law and forced migration.

The fellows will spend 12-18 months at Migration & Asylum Project in New Delhi, getting hands-on experience to effectively leverage the law as a tool to protect the rights of displacement populations.

The fellows will contribute to ongoing advocacy and policymaking efforts and undertake pathbreaking research and work in the field.

The fellows will also have exposure to the workings of MAP’s key partners and collaborators, which includes UN agencies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), state legal aid authorities etc.

The fellows will work directly with migrant and refugee communities across India.

Migration and Asylum Project’s Catalyst for CFC Fellowship Programme is designed for individuals who are:
Duration and Stipend

The duration of this fellowship programme is 12 months. This engagement may be extended up to 6 months based on the fellow’s performance.

The fellows will be paid a stipend of Rs. 45,000 per month.
