The Centre for Advanced Study in Criminal Law (CASCL) at RGNUL, Punjab is organizing an Essay Writing Competition, on the topic ‘Exploring Gender Justice: The Laws and the Lacunae’.

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established by the State Legislature of Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006 (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006). The University was accredited with ’A’ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2015
About CASCL
RGNUL has established a Centre for Advanced Studies in Criminal Law (CASCL) to undertake: advanced study and research in the emerging areas of criminal law. The Centre aims to bring about reforms in the substantive and procedural criminal law in view of the modern crime scenario; development of sound criminal justice policy and practice: to generate respect for human rights and rule of law in the administration of criminal justice; training and technical assistance to agencies concerned with administration of criminal justice; renewal ef sentencing policies and correctional systems; revamping justice to the victims of crime, and legal aid and speedy disposal of the criminal cases.
Objectives
The objectives of the Competition are to cultivate good reading and writing communication skills coupled with encouraging "passion for writing" and "creativity", a quality which every human being possesses, which is possibly hidden and may be unknown to the individual himself.
The CASCL gives a platform to the young professionals to shawcase their characteristics that illuminate the good students and potentially great writers. This Essay Competition invites students to explore a wide range of challenging amd interesting questions beyond the confines of the college curriculum.
Eligibility

Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Students from in the competition.

The participants need to register themselves compulsorily. Entries received without a proper registration shall not be considered for evaluation

Please Note: The above-mentioned list for sub-themes is merely illustrative and not exhaustive and hence any other submission pertinent to the theme shall be accorded consideration.

Submission Procedure
Judgement Criteria
The entries would be assessed on the basis of following parameters:
Prizes

1st Prize: Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) , 2nd Prize: Rs.7,000 (Rupees Seven Thousand Only)

3rd Prize: Rs. 5,000 (Rupees Five Thousand Only)

E — Certificates of merit shall be awarded to the top 10 entries of the competition.

E — Certificates of parficipafion shall be awarded to all the participants of the competition.
Guidelines

The essays must be submitted in English only
-
The name(s) of the author(s) should not be mentioned anywhere in the essay
-
The word limit for the essay is 2000-2500 words, not including footnotes.

The essays should be typed in Times New Roman, Font Size 12 and Line Spacing 1.5, justified
-
The footnotes must be typed in Times New Roman, Font ize 10 and Line Spacing 1.
-
The margins should be 1" or 2.54 cm on all sides.

Every citation must follow the Harvard Bluebook, 20th Edition

Co-authorship of up to 2 authors is permitted

CASCL reserves the right to withdraw applications at any stage for any reason determined appropriate by Jus Rerum.
