About the Event
The second of October marks the birth anniversary of the father of our nation, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, who played a very significant role in the Indian Independence Struggle. His beliefs and persistent paramount efforts for India's Independence are heard and revered all around the world. His principles of tolerance and non-violence transcend national boundaries, religion, and race, and his birth anniversary is celebrated as the International Day of Non-violence. To commemorate this occasion, an essay writing competition is being organized by the Research & Publication Cell. This competition is an opportunity to reflect upon and cherish the life of this great personality who has left behind an extraordinary legacy of defending freedom and free speech. These ideals still stand true in contemporary times and are gaining currency in the current culture of intolerance. As a lawyer, social reformist, nationalist leader, Mahatma Gandhi had diverse interests which are reflected in his multidimensional thought and philosophy which are still significant to the challenges faced by modern-day society.
