About KLE Society’s Law College
The KLE Society was established in the year 1916 and has been serving thousands of people in the field of education for more than 10 decades! Presently, KLE Society manages a staggering 282 institutions including schools, colleges, technical institutions, research centers and Business schools.
The Society runs the institutes in almost all the districts of Karnataka, parts of Maharashtra and New Delhi. About the Chair on Consumer Law & Practice
For the first time in Indian history, the Chair on Consumer Law and Practice (CLAP Chair) has been established in August 2008, at the National Last School of India University, Bengaluru (NLSIU) by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, to promote research, teaching and training in Consumer Law and Practice.
From the date of establishment of this CLAP Chair, Prof. Ashok R. Patil is heading and administering the chair.
About the Seminar
KLE Society’s Law College, Bengaluru, in order to promote critical thinking and research among the legal academia, organizes the national seminars and conferences every year. The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 came into force on 20th July 2020.
The Act empowers consumers and helps them in protecting their rights through its various notified rues and provisions like product liability and punishment for manufacture or sale of products containing adulterant/ spurious goods through Consumer Protection Councils, Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, mediation.
The resource persons will deliberate on different aspects like implementation, strength and challenge involved in achieving the objectives of CPA, 2019.
