About the Seminar
The School of Indian Legal Thought, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, is organizing a two (2) day National Seminar on Cyber Law and Cyber Security – Challenges and the Way Forward on 3rd and 4th March 2023 at its campus in offline mode.
With the exponential growth in the use of cyberspace, there has been a simultaneous flare-up of legal and other issues in relation to its usage. The objective of the seminar is to analyze the emerging trends, issues, and aspects pertaining to cyberspace in the present socio-legal context.
The need to protect data privacy has recently been highlighted with the introduction of the Digital Data Protection Bill, 2022, and the efficacy of the Bill to address data protection concerns is largely under discussion. Statistics show that cybercrime has increased dramatically in the last three years, particularly in the post-covid times.
Also significant is the large-scale impact cybercrimes could have on the socio-economic milieu of the country, as is evident from the acts of cyber-warfare and cyber-terrorism. In this context, this seminar is being held to stimulate a revitalized and knowledge-based discussion of emerging issues in cyber law and cyber security.
The presence of experienced and knowledgeable resource persons and the presentation of well-researched papers on the various sub-themes is expected to tremendously enhance the outcome of the seminar.
