About Global Bioethics Collective
Global Bioethics Collective (GBC) was conceptualized by Anamika Krishnan, an attorney, and a published author in the field of Feminist Bioethics. The initiative is expected to be a learning experience for students in Philosophy, Medicine, and Law. The platform encourages alternate approaches to the discipline of bioethics and legal scholarship.
About the Symposium
Questions in Bioethics include but are not limited to the end-of-life debate, assisted reproductive technologies, procreation and abortion, organ transplants, drug trials, public health, environmental issues, and population control. The androcentric approach in Bioethics promotes the notion that a man has the power, experience, and logic to determine worldly matters. Feminist Bioethics dismisses this notion and advocates for a gender-neutral approach to the discipline of Bioethics.
The pandemic has taught us that the androcentric narration disregards the factors like illiteracy, gender, race, social status and economic background of the patient, and class hierarchy in the society. This symposium seeks to revisit what went wrong in the health care structures and legal frameworks across the world, how long it has been so, and why we continue to dwell in such dilapidated systems.
Objectives of the Symposium
