Mizoram Judicial Service Examination is conducted by the Gauhati High Court to hire subordinate in judicial services for Grade-I (Practising Lawyers) & Grade-III (Fresh Graduates) positions within the State of Mizoram. While Grade-II Judicial Officers are appointed by seniority and departmental competitive examination conducted by the Gauhati High Court, Aizwal Bench.
Grade-III Judicial Officers means the Judicial Officer designated as Civil Judge (Junior Division) on the Civil side and Sub - Divisional Judicial Magistrate & Judicial Magistrate on the Criminal side (as the case may be).
These exams focus on Indian legal and constitutional governance and history, current developments of national and international interest, and the analytical aptitude and skills of the candidate.
Mizoram Judicial Service Examination Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Degree in Law of a recognized University.

Knowledge of the Mizo language of at least Middle standard.

Must hold the license of practice as an advocate i.e he/she must clear the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) for appearing in the Mizoram Judicial Service Grade-III Examination.
Age Limit

The upper age limit to appear in the MJS Grade-III examination is 35 years.

Mizoram Judicial Service Examination Syllabus for Viva-Voce/Interview
Interview, Viva Voce (50 Marks)
There is no specified syllabus for Viva-Voce but the interview is intended to supplement the written examination for testing the general and specialised knowledge in law & other subjects as well as the abilities to solve the problem during the course of work.
The Board will pay special attention to assess:

intellectual curiosity,

critical powers of assimilation,
-
balance of judgment and alertness of mind,
-
the ability for social cohesion,
-
the integrity of character initiative and
-
capacity for leadership.
The candidate will be expected to have taken an intelligent interest not only in his/her subjects of law but also in events that are happening around him/her both within and outside his/her own State or Country.
They must have knowledge in the field of Current Affairs, New Discoveries & Inventions also. The technique of the interview is not that of a strict cross-examination, but of a natural, though directed and purposive conversation intended to reveal the candidate’s mental qualities and his/her grasp of problems.
