Provide legal support on investments in distressed assets in India, both retail/ SME portfolios and corporate investments, restructurings, fund raising, regulatory and other general corporate matters. Legal support would include:
Conduct legal due diligence on investments, including coordinate with outsourced legal advisors, collate information, compile queries and draw conclusions
Draft, review and finalise various agreements, deeds and other transaction documents
Attend meetings and engage in negotiations with banks, NBFCs, ARCs, investors and other counter parties and their representatives
Liaison with advocates, solicitors, law firms, valuers and consultants
Take charge of litigation matters to ensure the best possible outcome, including brief advocates and solicitors, develop strategies and respond to notices and queries
Support compliance and portfolio monitoring, which includes compiling legal resolution information from other group companies, business functions and counterparties to provide information to regulators, investors and the Board
Provide high quality and commercially relevant legal advice and updates on changes to statutes
Any additional roles and responsibilities, as may be required
Qualification & Experience
Law graduate from a reputed law school in India with a good academic record
About 5-7 years of experience with top tier banks or ARCs
Strong knowledge of banking / finance laws, loan and collateral documentation, legal measures to resolve problem loans including SARFAESI, DRTs, insolvency & bankruptcy laws, RBI regulations, courts
Knowledge of civil, criminal and general corporate laws, information technology laws, Stamp Act, Indian Trust Act, among others
