Job Description:

Responsibilities

• First, to guide its writer-members on their contracts, about how their rights may be affected, and guide them on how to negotiate those.
• Second, to assist SWA in mediating and resolving copyright-related, contractual, and other legal disputes.
• To assess member’s complaints of disputes with producers or with other writers for their legal validity, and guide SWA to conduct fair hearings.
• To recommend action against the offending party, including litigation.
• To prepare briefs for and liaise with SWA's panel of lawyers, attend court hearings, and recommend further action.
• Draft, negotiate, and review any contract that SWA has with anyone else.

Qualification & Experience

• The candidate must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in law recognised by the Bar Council of India.
• While SWA is open to considering bright fresh law graduates, two-three years of relevant professional experience will be a major plus.
• Sound knowledge of the Indian Copyright Act, of IP rights imperative.
• Experience with contracts in the entertainment industry is desirable.
