The Jharkhand Judicial Service Examination is organized each year by the Jharkhand High Court – Ranchi to recruit suitable candidates for the posts of Civil Judge Junior Division.
The competitive exam for Jharkhand high court Civil Judge in Junior Division is held in 3 phases. The candidates need to qualify for each of these phases to be selected for the post. There is a Preliminary Entrance Test - Written Examination that will have Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type. The candidates declared successful in this test shall be eligible for the Main Examination. Then there is the Main Examination which is subjective and is the written examination. The candidates declared successful in this test shall be eligible for Viva-Voce Test. This is followed by a Viva-Voce Test which constitutes a Personal Interview or an Oral Examination for the final selection.

Eligibility and Age Limit: Jharkhand Civil Judge for Junior Division

Educational qualification & Practice of Law: One must possess a Degree of Law (LLB) from a recognized University preferably by the BCI. He/she must be enrolled as an advocate via the Advocates, Act, 1961 until the last date of submission of the application form. Valid & active application and registration are mandatory to appear for the exam. A suspended Registration will be denied appearance. The fee for application for all the candidates who belong to the general category will be Rs. 400. And the Candidates of the reserved category will be required to pay Rs. 100 towards the application fee.

General Requirements: He/she must be a citizen Of India in sound health, with a good moral character and must not be linked to or have a history with any criminal case involving moral.

Age limit: Lower limit of the age requirement for a candidate to appear for the exam is 22 years while the upper limit for the age requirement for a candidate to appear for the exam is 35 years as on the date indicated in the notice by the high court. In the case of female candidates, or candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe there are given the relaxation of the upper age limit by three years.

Jharkhand Judicial Service Application Fee for the general category applicants is Rs. 600 while for the candidates from the reserved category, it is Rs. 150.
Jharkhand Judicial Service Exam Admit Card
After validating the documents and the details, the board of Jharkhand for the exam will release the admit card on the official website for all the eligible candidates. The candidates can go to the website and download the admit card issued by Jharkhand high court through its official website. Typically, admit cards for Jharkhand Judicial Service Exam are released 2 weeks prior to the examination date. Candidates must fill in all the mandatory credentials and then go ahead to download the admit card. After candidates download their admit card, they should take the printout and retain it until the exam day. It must be then carried to the examination hall to validate your identity.

Viva-Voce Test
- There will be a Viva-Voce Test comprising of 100 marks.
- In the Viva-Voce Test, the least qualifying marks are 25% for the candidates of the General category whereas 20% for the SC/ST/EBC & BC.
- None of the candidates, regardless of the marks secured by him in the Main Examination, will be qualified for election or appointment, if he does not get the bare minimum marks enlisted in the test for Viva-Voce.
- The final selection list shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Viva-Voce Test both.
- In case of tie in marks between the candidates in the ultimate selection list, the selection will be done first on the metrics of qualifications, in which the one that had a Post Graduate Degree in the related field will be given priority and later the experience will be gauged, if any, in practising law and yet if needed, age factor will be through into consideration giving the senior one more preference.
Jharkhand Judicial Service Exam Result
The result for the Jharkhand Judicial Services Prelims Exam will be declared through the notification website. First of all, the official website of Jharkhand will have the result uploaded to it for the Pre Exam. Then, followed by the conduction of the Main Exam, the result will be declared on the website of Jharkhand for the mains. The final result will be declared after the interview round. Jharkhand Civil Judge Salary
The Jharkhand psc civil judge salary lies between Rs.27,700 to Rs.44,770 per month. Dearness allowance, rent allowance, and travel allowance are offered according to State government rules. Out of the PCS J Salary arrears, 40% is deposited in the officers’ General provident fund, and the remaining amount is given during two consecutive fiscal years, in equal instalments.
Probation Period for Jharkhand State Judiciary
After the candidates get selected in the final selection list, they need to serve a probation period of 2 years. Depending on performance and other parameters, the probation period may be extended in individual cases. This may depend on the passing of examination prescribed by the High Court during service.
