The GH Raisoni Law College is organizing its 16th KSHAN Moot Court which will be held on the 4th and 5th of September, 2021 on a virtual platform.
About the Organizers
The 16th National Appellate Moot Court Competition -2021 is being organized by students of G.H. Raisoni Law College, Nagpur and G.H. Raisoni University’s School of Law, Saikheda in collaboration with All India Reporter (AIR), a Pan-India Law Reports Publication house and FDPPI- Foundation of Data Protection Professionals in India.

Advocates attire (does not include neckband and gown) i.e.

For Male: Black trouser and black blazer/coat, White Shirt, tie and formal shoes.

For Female: Black blazer/coat and black trouser/skirts, white shirt, or Indian wear (Black and White)
Eligibility
Team Composition
-
Each team shall consist of a maximum of 3 members. This number cannot be exceeded under any circumstances. There can be 2 speakers and 1 researcher designated for each team. In case of a team consisting of two members, both the members shall be speakers.

Researchers will be mandatorily questioned in the courtrooms by the respective judges and their marks thereof will be the only criteria for deciding the best researcher. If team composes of only two members, then the team would not be eligible for the race of best researcher.

Each team will be provided with a unique team code soon after the registration in the confirmation mail itself. The identity of the teams shall not be disclosed at any stage, such disclosure shall invite penalties including disqualification. The decision for the same shall be at the discretion of the Moot Court Committee.

The Institution has decided to keep a team cap of40 teams. The institution may increase this limit and it is completely on the discretion of the Moot Court Committee. The participation would be decided on first come first serve basis, the teams which complete all its formalities first would be allowed to participate. The formalities shall be deemed to be completed only once all the required documents i.e., duly filled registration form and payment is received and confirmed by the authorities.

The teams must register themselves by filling the google form through the link provided here. A registration fees of Rs.1000/-is to be paid and the same shall be non refundable. Participants will receive an acknowledgement cum approval as confirmation of their online registration & participation periodically after registration.

Teams have to fill the google form attached or sent to you via email.

Once registration is done no change in names will be possible. However, in exceptional circumstances if a change in name is inevitable a fresh online registration has to be made along with a scanned copy of the approval letter from the college/institution/ university or duly attested affirmation clearly explaining the reasons for the change and with authorized signatory & seal of the college/institution / university.

Rounds
There will be two Preliminary rounds of arguments followed by Quarter finals, Semi Finals and a Final round. It is to be noted that if the number of teams go beyond 24, no quarter final rounds will be conducted. 4 winner teams from the preliminary rounds will argue in semi-final rounds directly.
Preliminary Rounds

There will be two preliminary arguments per team, one for petitioner/ appellant & the other for respondent.

Each team will face a different bench in their second round of arguments. III. Top eight teams will qualify for the quarter finals.

Teams will be provided with their opponent’s memorial after draw of lots. V. Return of the other side’s memorial immediately after the preliminary round is compulsory.

Compendium

The teams shall have an option to submit a compendium of not more than 30 pages till September 2, 2021, which shall carry all the annexure and case laws that have been referred to in the memorial.

The teams will be permitted to share the screen for compendium during the oral argument in case required. The organizers will only share the screen for compendium in case of technical glitches.

Any identifying marks / seal of the college on the compendium shall attract severe penalties including disqualification. The submission of this compendium does NOT necessarily entitle the team to any additional marks.
Oral Rounds

Rebuttal shall be allowed; the above time is inclusive of ten minutes for the rebuttal.

Semi-Finals

Each team will get a total of 40 minutes to present their case.

Rebuttal shall be allowed; the above time is inclusive of ten minutes for the rebuttal.

This will be a knockout round.

Final

Each team will get a total of 60 minutes to present their case.

Rebuttal shall be allowed; the above time is inclusive of ten minutes for the rebuttal.

Scouting
-
Teams will not be allowed to observe the orals of any other teams. Scouting is strictly prohibited. Scouting by any of the teams will result in disqualification.

Any team can file a written complaint with the Moot Court Committee, regarding a case of scouting. The Moot Court Committee’s decision will be final.

The researchers shall be in the same room as their speakers at the time of the orals and shall not enter rooms of any other team participating in the competition.

Student Counsel may introduce him/herself to the court in the usual manner and may state only their personal codes. However, the team's college affiliation shall not be indicated to the judges at any time. Further, all team members, coaches, advisors, and observers shall refrain from identifying a team’s college at any time and in any manner, including, but not limited to, wearing any identifying items (such as college clothing, ties, patches or pins) or carrying identifying material (such as books with a college logo or college seal etc.)

Misbehavior of any sort by the participants will be dealt very seriously and will lead to disqualification.
