About Army Law College
Army Law College, Pune was established in July 2018 with a noble objective of imparting the quality legal education to the children of our brave, patriotic & selfless Army Personnel. The College is governed and managed by Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), which is nonprofit organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, since 29 April 1983. The Army Law College is the second professional college to be established in Pune under AWES, after Army Institute of Technology (AIT). The location of the college is serene and ideal for educational institute. ALC is well connected by train (local station approx 1.5 KM) and road (Mumbai-Pune Highway approx. 500 metres).
Army Law College, Pune is affiliated to “Savitribai Phule Pune University” (SPPU) which has been ranked 11th in the 2021 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Army Law College, Pune is approved by the Bar Council of India and the Government of Maharashtra. It offers a five-year integrated B.B.A, LL. B Programme with a student intake of 60 seats (Exclusively for children of Army Personnel).
It has a fully residential campus, located in the midst of nature, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Pune life. It is just 45 Kms from Pune on Old Pune-Mumbai Highway and nearest railway station Kanhe is just 1.5 Kms. It takes about 10 minutes to travel to the nearest Taluka Court, 1 hour to the Pune District Court and 2 hours to Bombay High Court by Road.
The college is located near the Automobile Manufacturing Hub at Chakan-Talegaon and Pimpri-Chinchwad belt. It is advantageous for effectively teaching Management Subjects of B.B.A by way of developing linkages with manufacturing companies for industrial visits, internships and inviting industry-experts for training the students.
About the Competition
“ALC Pune Online National Moot Court Competition “shall be conducted via online/virtual mode (Through Cisco WebEx Meetings Platform) from 8th January to 9th January 2022 by the Army Law College, Pune. The Meeting ID, Password and Link to each session shall be shared with the participants before each round.
The participants shall ensure that they have Strong Broadband Internet Connection with minimum of 50 MBPS speed. Participants shall download Cisco-WebEx App beforehand. Use only Laptop or PC. Use of Smartphone is prohibited.
Participation and Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria: Students enrolled for a full-time Law Degree Programme [Five-Year Integrated Law Degree Programme (B.A, LL. B/ B.B.A, LL. B/ B. Com, LL. B/ B. Sc, LL. B) or Three-Year LL. B Programme] at the time of the competition are eligible to participate in the Competition.

Each Law College/Law School/Law University shall nominate Only One Team.

Team Composition: A team shall be comprised of Three Members only: Two Speakers and One Researcher.

Official Language: The official language of the Competition shall be English only.

Dress Code: The teams are required to follow a strict dress code as prescribed by the Bar Council of India for Advocates.

Number of Participating Teams: Maximum Thirty-two (32) teams shall be allowed to participate in the Competition, on the basis of first come-first serve basis.

In case of odd number of teams, the organising committee shall nominate one nonparticipating dummy team.
Registration
-
Provisional Registration: The participating students shall send scanned copy of the duly filled Registration Form (See Appendix I for the format) along with signature and seal of the Principal/Director/Dean/Vice Chancellor of the concerned Law College/School/University to academics.alcpune@gmail.com on or before 17th November 2021.

The email shall be sent with Subject marked as “Provisional Registration for ALC Pune Online National Moot Court Competition (Organized by Army Law College, Pune)”.

Only first 32 Registration Forms shall be accepted for the final participation and the confirmation email shall be sent to the 32 selected teams on 18th November 2021.

After receiving the confirmation email on 18th November 2021, the selected teams shall be required to pay the Registration Fee of INR 1,000/- through NEFT only on or before 25th November 2021.

The confirmed teams, after due payment shall email the Transaction Details along with Screenshot/ Counter slip to academics.alcpune@gmail.com on or before 25th November, 2021 with subject line ‘Final Registration for ‘ALC Pune Online National Moot Court Competition’ (organised by Army Law College, Pune).

Waiting List: If any team from selected teams withdraws or does not confirm the registration within given time-line then the next team will be called from waiting list maintained by Organisers.

No change in the names of the participants shall be permitted after the receipt of the Registration Form, except at the sole discretion of the Organisers.

All teams shall be assigned a ‘‘Team Code’’ by the Organisers on validation of their Registration Form and receipt of online payment of registration fees. Thereafter the teams shall use their designated “Team Code” for all correspondence with the Organisers.

The same team code must be used by the teams during the submission of Memorials and during all the Rounds of the Competition.
Rounds
-
Preliminary Rounds: In the Preliminary Rounds, each team will present arguments for both sides.

Quarter-final Rounds: Eight teams which qualify in Preliminary Rounds will procced to the Quarter-final Rounds.

Semi-Final Rounds: Four teams which qualify in the Quarter-final Rounds will proceed to the Semi-Final Rounds.

Final Round: Two teams shall which qualify in the Semi-final Rounds will proceed to the Final Round.
Proceedings
-
For any technical glitch/lack of internet connectivity/any other technological problem at the end of the participating speakers (which cannot be resolved within reasonable time) in any Round, the entire Team shall be disqualified. In such a situation, the opposite Team shall be declared winner in the concerned Round after making oral pleadings automatically. However, the organizers reserve the right to re-schedule the Round in their discretion.

All Rounds shall be “Knock-Out” Rounds.

A team shall be credited with a win in the respective Rounds if their Round total score is greater than that of the opposing team.

In the event of a tie in the Round Total of the teams, the team with a higher Memorial Score will be declared as the winner of the round in question. In case the tie persists, the decision of the judges will be deemed to be final.

In the Preliminary and Semi-Final Rounds, each Team will have 30 minutes for arguments. Each Team member shall argue for at least 12 minutes.

In the Final Round, each Team will have 45 minutes for arguments, and each Team Member shall argue for at least 20 minutes. This time includes the time for rebuttals or sur-rebuttals. Only one speaker can speak in rebuttal or sur-rebuttal.

Each team and its members shall be seated in the virtual Court room through the proceedings of that Court.

Any team member shall not visit /join any Court room other than his own until that round is over.

Teams may use laptops during proceedings without interfering or disturbing the Court proceedings.

Judges’ decision on conduct of proceedings shall be final in their respective Courts.

Soft copies of the memorials (PDF Format) must be e-mailed to academics.alcpune@gmail.com on or before 23rd December 2021.
Contents of Memorials
Cover page stating -- Title of the Competition, Name of the Court, Name of the Case, Title of the document (viz. “Memorial for the __”), and Team Code.
Format of Memorials

Following colour scheme shall be followed in preparing the Cover Pages: - Blue: Petitioner cover page and Red: Respondent cover page.

OSCOLA Method of Citation (See - https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/oscola) shall be followed for footnoting.

The Memorial shall be typed on A4 size page in Font type: Times New Roman, Font size: 12, Double Spacing & 1-inch margin on all sides. Footnotes: Font size10, no double spacing.

The Memorial must not contain any Annexure/ Photographs / Sketches /Exhibits / Affidavit

Any deviation from the above-stated rules shall be penalized as per the discretion of the organizers.

Miscellaneous

The Organisers’ decision as regards the interpretation of rules or any other matter related to the competition shall be final and binding.

If there is any situation which is not contemplated in the rules, the Organisers’ decision on the same shall be final and binding.

The Organisers reserve the right to vary, alter, modify, or repeal any of the above rules without any prior notification, if so required and as they shall deem appropriate.
