About the Institute
Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1920 and was accorded the status of a Central University in 1988. It was initially started as a movement for educational and cultural renaissance which has grown as one of the best institutions in higher education offering multidisciplinary courses.
The Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1989.
About the Moot
8th Jamia Millia Islamia National Moot Court Competition shall be organized by the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi-25 through an Online Platform from 25th to 27th June 2020 in sponsorship with SCC Online and Easter Book Company. Prizes worth Rupees Forty Thousand awaits the winners along with SCC Online’s Subscription.

Language
The Competition shall be conducted in the English language only.
Structure of the Competition
The Competition consists of two levels: (a) Memorial Elimination Round and (b) National Rounds.

Stage I: Memorial Selection Round: There will be a memorial elimination round which will determine the teams selected for the Oral Rounds. The top 24 teams with the highest memorial marks will proceed to the Stage II of the competition. In case more than 2 teams register from the same college, the Top 2 teams securing the highest marks will proceed to Stage II of the Competition.

Stage II: Oral Rounds: The oral round shall consist of two Preliminary Rounds, Quarterfinals, Semi-finals and a Final round.
Eligibility
Each Institution offering an undergraduate LL.B. Degree Course (3 and 5 Year course) is eligible to participate in the competition. Each Institution can send multiple Teams. The Competition is only open for students in LL.B. Undergraduate Degree Courses.
Team Composition
Each team shall consist of three members. The substitution of any Team Member is not allowed except with the permission of the organisers.

Every team shall consist of two speakers and one researcher.

A researcher shall be allowed to argue instead of a speaker only with the permission of the Court.

Each team shall be provided with a team code by the organising committee which shall be mandatorily mentioned on the top right corner of the front page of the memorials.
Registration

The Registration Fee for this competition is Rupees Five Hundred Only. (Rs. 500/-). The details of the Bank Account in which the Registration Fee must be paid has been attached at the end of this Rule Book (last two pages).

The Registration Fee must be paid by all the teams and the copy of such transaction must be sent to jmcc.jmi@gmail.com by 8 June 2020 (11:59 PM IST).

All the teams which successfully registers for the competition and submit the soft copy of their memorials shall be awarded a Certificate of Participation irrespective of whether they qualify for the Top 24.

Kindly provide a Gmail I’d for the convenience. Each Participant must provide their Name, Year of Study, Mobile number (WhatsApp preferably), and E-mail I’d.

All such communication shall essentially take place through E-mails and WhatsApp.

The Google Form must be filled once by each team and the College Identity Card of each participant must be also be uploaded with the Google Forms. The section for the same has been created in the forms.

In case the participant(s) of the team is not in possession of their college identity card and is unable to send the copy of such Identity card, then in such a case, the entire team must request their concerned faculty’s Moot Court Society/Moot Court Committee/Dean/HOD to send an email for registration of such team through their official email declaring that the student(s)/team which intends to participate in this moot is a bona fide student of such college. The email must be sent to jmcc.jmi@gmail.com by 8 June 2020. They must provide details as mentioned under Rule III.c.

The acknowledgement shall be sent to participants by 10th June 2020.

Team Codes shall be allotted to all the registered teams by 10th June 2020.

Certificate of Merit: Certificate of Merit shall be given to the Winners, Runners-up, Best Advocate (Male), Best Advocate (Female), Best Memorial and Best Researchers.
