About the Organisation
The 13th NALSAR Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition is being organised from 6th March to 8th March 2020 in collaboration with Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust (BRSMT) and Eastern Book Company (EBC) and SCC Online as Knowledge Partners.
About the Moot
The Competition will be held at NALSAR University of Law, ‘Justice City’, Shamirpet, Hyderabad. The Moot shall be judged by esteemed lawyers involved in the practice of Constitutional Law from across the country and judicial clerks from the Supreme Court of India.

The NALSAR- Justice B.R. Sawhny Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition (“Competition”) is held and administered by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad with the aid of the Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust. SCC Online and EBC are associated as Knowledge Partners.

The Competition is to be held on March 06-08, 2020 at NALSAR University of Law, Justice City, Shameerpet, Hyderabad.

Prof. Balakista Reddy, Registrar, NALSAR University of Law, shall be the ‘National Coordinator’ of the Moot Court Competition.

Language
The Competition shall be conducted in the English language only. Oral Rounds and Memorial submission shall be in English.
Structure of the Competition
The Competition consists of two levels: (a) Memorial Elimination Round and (b) National Rounds. The teams which qualify for the Memorial Elimination Round shall be allowed to participate in the National Rounds, which is comprised of Preliminary Rounds and Advanced Rounds viz. Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals.
Eligibility
Each Institution offering an undergraduate LL.B. DegreeCourse is eligible to participate in the same. A Team may not have members from more than one Institution. Similarly, no more than one team can participate from any Institution. The Competition is open for students in LL.B. Undergraduate Degree Courses and LL.M. Degree Courses.
Team Composition

Each team shall comprise a minimum of two members, both performing the role of Speaker or a maximum of three members consisting of two (2) Speakers and one (1) Researcher. The substitution of any Team Member is not allowed after the registration deadline except in extenuating circumstances and only with the written permission of the National Coordinator.

Every team shall consist of two speakers. Teams may have only one researcher.

A researcher shall be allowed to argue instead of a speaker only with the permission of the Court.

No certificate nor accommodation shall be provided to a fourth member.
Registration
Online Registration Format and Deadline
Teams must register by 25th January 2020 by sending an email to brsmoot@nalsar.ac.in with the subject “Registration for NALSAR BR Sawhny Moot 2020”. The email should contain the duly filled in a scanned copy of the Registration Form. Each registered team would be allotted a provisional Team Code. The teams must also fill the google form sent along with the invite.
Registration Fee (After Memorial Elimination Round)

Teams that clear the Memorial Elimination Round and are invited to participate in the Moot Court Competition as per Rule 4.5 must send a registration fee of Rs. 6,500/- via Online Transfer (NEFT) latest by 29th February 2020.

Details of the online transfer must be sent in the confirmation e-mail sent to brsmoot@nalsar.ac.in by the invited teams as per Rule 4.5 (c) by 23:59 hours on the 29th of February 2020.

Awards

Winning Team Award: The winning team will receive a trophy and prize worth Rs. 30,000/- and one-year access cards to SCC Online Web Edition to all team members.

Runner Up Team Award: The runners up team will receive a trophy and prize worth Rs. 20,000/- and one-year access cards to EBC Learning to all team members.

Best Oralist shall receive a trophy and prize worth Rs. 7,500/-

Second Best Oralist shall receive a prize worth Rs. 5,000/-

The team with the Best Memorials will receive a trophy and prize worth Rs. 7,500/-

Best Researcher will receive a prize worth Rs. 5,000/-

All teams qualifying for the Memorial Elimination Round shall receive one-month access to the SCC online Web Edition.
Accommodation, Food and Transport

Accommodation and food shall be provided to all teams by NALSAR University of Law from 6th March 2020 to 8th March 2020.

The Travel Details form must be duly filled and sent in the confirmation e-mail sent to brsmoot@nalsar.ac.in by the invited teams as per Rule 4.5 (c) by 23:59 hours on the 29th of February, 2020.
