Assam Judicial Service (AJS) Grade – III: Introduction
Assam Judicial Service examination is conducted by the Gauhati High Court to hire subordinate in judicial services for Grade – I (Practising Lawyers) & Grade – III (Fresh Graduates) positions within the State of Assam. While Grade-II Judicial Officers are appointed by seniority and departmental competitive examination conducted by the Gauhati High Court.
Grade – III Judicial Officers means the Judicial Officer designated as Civil Judge (Junior Division) on the Civil side and Sub – Divisional Judicial Magistrate & Judicial Magistrate on the Criminal side (as the case may be).
These exams focus on Indian legal and constitutional governance and history, current developments of national and international interest, and the analytical aptitude and skills of the candidate.

Assam Judicial Service Grade – III: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are advised to carefully check whether she/he fulfil all the eligibility criteria before applying. The details of the Assam Judicial Services exam eligibility criteria have been given below:

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

The candidate must be a holder of a Degree in Law from a recognized institute or university.

The candidate must be less than or equal to 35 years.

Candidate of the SC & ST category will get 3 years of relaxation in their upper age.

Assam Judicial Service Grade – III: Exam Pattern & Syllabus
The selection process of the AJS Grade – III examination segregated into three stages. One stage is followed by another.

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination (Screening Test) shall consist of the Objective type questions of 100 marks out of which 90 marks will cover General Knowledge, Aptitude, English, Constitution of India, Code of Civil procedure, Criminal Procedure Code, Transfer of Property Act, Indian Contract Act, Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Law of Torts and remaining 10 marks to test the proficiency in the official language (s) of the State of Assam(Assamese).
