Manipur Judicial Service examination is conducted by the Manipur High Court - Imphal to hire subordinates in judicial services for Grade-I (Practicing Lawyers) & Grade-III (Fresh Graduates) positions within the State of Manipur. While Grade-II Judicial Officers are appointed by seniority and departmental competitive examination conducted by the High Court.
A portion of the Grade -I Judicial officers are filled by merit cum seniority basis by the High Court and such a number of vacancies are mentioned in the Examination notification. The Examination is conducted as per the rules given under Manipur Judicial Service Rules, 2005 (as amended).
Grade-I Judicial Officer means the Judicial Officer designated as District-Judge & Additional District-Judge on the Civil side and Sessions-Judge & Additional Sessions-Judge on the Criminal side (as the case may be).
Manipur Judicial Service Eligibility Criteria:

A candidate must be a citizen of India as defined in Article 5 & 6 of the Constitution of India.

The candidate must be a holder of a degree in law from a recognized University.

Candidate should be practising as an Advocate in Courts of Civil and Criminal jurisdiction on the last date fixed for receipt of applications and must have so practised for a period of not less than 7 (seven) years as of 16 May 2019.

The candidate should have knowledge of Manipur State Official Language (Manipuri).

Should be serving judicial officers having seven years practice, as an advocate and judicial Service put together/ are permitted to participate in the selection subject to the outcome of SLP No. 14156/2015 pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.

Manipur Judicial Service Exam Pattern for Main Written Examination:
The Main Written Examination will be of 400 marks comprising four papers i.e. Paper – I, Paper-II, Paper-III & Paper-IV. A total of 400 marks will be considered for marking. All the candidates must obtain 50% or more marks or corresponding grade in the Final written examination to be eligible for Viva-Voce.

General Awareness & English: To test the General Knowledge, Aptitude, Intelligence, Test of comprehension and expression of law, General English and Information Technology.

Law Paper - I: Expert Knowledge in law is necessary to solve the problems in various fields of law.

Law Paper-II: To test the writing skills of candidates along with the knowledge of the law. The candidate will be given facts on the basis of which the judgement writing skills with the understanding of the law is being analyzed.
Manipur Judicial Service Exam Pattern for Viva-Voce/Interview:
This is the final stage of the Grade-I examination which will be 50 marks. The final evaluation will be based on marks obtained in the Final Written Examination and Viva- Voce. The selected candidates must secure 40% marks in the Viva – Voce/ Interview. However, the final selection shall be made subject to the overall suitability of the candidate, as decided by the High Court.
Manipur Judicial Service Application Fee:
General/ OBC category candidates have to pay Rs. 1700/- and SC/ ST candidates have to pay Rs. 1200/- as application fees.
