Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Provides in-house legal counsel on labour and employment matters related to employees in India and Asia Pacific countries, including employee relations concerns, compensation and benefits, leave, wrongful dismissal, redundancy, settlement agreements, and employment agreements.
- Manages employment disputes, pre-litigation claims, legal notices, employment litigation, arbitration, and mediations.
- Manages external counsel as needed on complex legal issues related to labour and employment law matters and civil proceedings in India and Asia Pacific countries.
- Ensures business and employment practices, policies, and standards comply with applicable labour and employment laws and regulations and provide practical advice to HR and business leaders on these issues.
- Proactively monitors and advises management on developments and changes in labour and employment laws and regulations in India and Asia Pacific countries that affect the business. Identifies and assesses legal risks and opportunities within the labour and employment area within India and Asia Pacific countries and advises accordingly.
- Works closely with HR and internal investigations and help develop and enhance employment law compliance processes, policies, and guidelines, including overseeing responses to regulatory inquiries and participating in complex legal projects.
- Advises on sensitive and complex matters such as sexual harassment and retaliation claims.
- You will also support the Asia Pacific region by providing timely, practical advice and counsel to HR professionals and executives on cross-border and regional issues.
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates various employment-related agreements and related legal documents.
- Develops and improves employment law compliance processes, policies and guidelines to minimize legal exposure.
- Oversees responses to inquiries from regulatory authorities.
- Participates in both routine and complex legal projects relating to employment law matters.

Qualification & Experience
- Strong skills and knowledge of Indian labour and employment law;
- Experience handling employment and Ethics workplace investigations involving issues including sexual harassment, retaliation, whistleblower concerns, fraud, bribery, and corruption; experience counselling on labour and employment issues in Asia Pacific countries is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 3-8 years of post-qualification experience practicing law with a law firm or in-house India legal department; in-house experience within India is strongly preferred.
- A law degree from an approved Indian law school.
- Demonstration of excellent oral and written communication skills and are comfortable presenting to audiences at the executive, management, and individual-contributor levels.
- Adept at legal research, problem solving, and time management, and you can work autonomously to handle the general requirements of the role.
- Available to travel as needed.
