Legal Counsel

Job Description:

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and execute investment management agreements and related contracts with money managers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, and contractual risks in connection with commercial agreements
• Update legal templates to ensure accurate and up-to-date legal language reflecting key terms (e.g., fiduciary duties, compliance, termination rights).
• Update legal templates to reflect changes in applicable rules and regulations and industry best practices
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including investment, legal, compliance, and operational teams, to ensure contracts meet business and risk standards.
• Provide subject-matter expertise on legal issues relating to money manager contracts, including dispute resolutions, amendments, and enforcement of contractual rights.

Qualification & Experience

• 4-6 years at a major law firm and/or in-house, with a focus on commercial agreements
• Bachelor’s degree in law from a reputed law school or university
• Proven legal drafting and commercial contracting experience.
• Strong negotiating and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of working independently and managing multiple high-priority tasks.
• Experience of interaction with diverse set of stakeholders at all levels.
• Detail-oriented, process-focused, and solutions-driven.
• Action oriented with high degree of self-management and attention to detail.
• Logical reasoning and problem-solving skills/methodology.
• Team player.
• Comfortable operating in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
