The competition is open for all the students enrolled in UG, PG or PhD programs of any affiliated university or colleges.   General Rules For participating in the above events, kindly follow the link given below and fill in your details properly. There is no registration fee and students must upload a picture of their university/college ID Card on the registration link. Please keep in mind that partially filled forms will automatically be disqualified. For team events – Quiz and Debate – there must be a common registration for both participants. Single registration in team events will be automatically disqualified. The contact details must be correct and reachable. The mobile number must preferably be a WhatsApp number. Individuals are encouraged to participate in as many events as possible, except that the Debate and Creative Writing events which will happen simultaneously. It aims to provide a platform for colleges and their athletes to showcase their talent in various sports events. About the University University Institute of Legal Studies established in 2005 is an institute situated in Himachal Pradesh imparting quality legal education to students.   About the Competition This is the fourth edition of the Moot Court Competition in memory of the Late Sh. Thakur Kashmir Singh. Over the past few years, they had great participation from all over India, to celebrate and carry this legacy of legal events conducted under this name. Late Sh. Thakur Kashmir Singh was born on 04.April.1924, enrolled in Law in Lahore but after partition, the batch graduated from Law College, Chotta Shimla. In 1948 he joined LegalProfession at District Court Hoshiarpur, Punjab and from the year 1949, he shifted to UNA, Himachal Pradesh. Till his last he remained in practice attending the court, he breathed last on 11 December 2015 at the age of 92 while he was still appearing for important cases in the chamber. He established his name and fame as a Criminal Lawyer. Under his legacy he has 2 Sons both of whom are Law Graduates, the Elder son did not pursue the legal profession but the younger son is Sr. Adv. Sh. Naresh Thakur ji is credited for this event. He is the only Member of the Bar Council Himachal Pradesh who has practiced for over 45 years and got elected for Six Consecutive terms. Designated as Sr. Adv. Of High Court HP in 2011, he is among the distinguished luminaries, and while his name shines bright in the matters of Criminal and Constitutional matters. Appointed as Sr. Council for Central Government for 3 years in a row (2002-2005). Himachal Pradesh University Institute of Legal Studies, Shimla taken immense pride in having his name, legacy, and guidance attached to us for the past many years.   Eligibility One Team from each Law College/Institute/University will be eligible to participate in the competition. Bennett University hosts the Law Fest once a year. In its nascent phase, the School of Law at Bennett University has hosted Law Fests to support its objective of expanding the legal arena above its confines. The event features legal combat between prospective lawyers. The Fest seeks to provide a vibrant arena for students to demonstrate their sociolegal abilities and level of knowledge to provide a platform for students to connect, ponder, and socialize to foster and expose their passion and skills.   Events under the LEGALITE Law Fest Way to Information: Participants have to draft an RTI based on the given socio-legal theme. InQUIZitive: A legal quiz that will let participants bet against their opponent’s ability to answer a question correctly. Twinning Telepathy: A competition is based on ‘judgement writing’. It focuses on the similarity between the judgements of two people in a team. Unruly Rule: This event concerns with ‘Dissenting Judgements’ which are the judgements made by one or more judges of a particular court who disagree with the majority opinion and so convey their Tinions on the case, which differ from the majority opinion of the bench. Furthermore, by publishing such dissent, the writer can define his or her position on the subject and the necessity for a distinct viewpoint. Legally Creative: A competition that will let you express your legal concerns or any legal aspect which makes you explore laws through memes, poems, punch lines, posters, comic strips, photography etc. which can make your creative sides come out. Social Walk: Let society know which social issues concern you the most by way of dressing, slogans, quotes etc. Join the walk with other students raising their respective concerns in this Social Walk. Client Counselling: The Participant has to interview a person playing the role of the client. Participants are expected to elicit the relevant information from the client. Law Treasure Hunt: In a treasure hunt, participants work in small teams to find the treasure with the help of given clues. The team that decodes the clue and finds the treasure first will win the game. In a Negotiation Session, each Participating Team will be represented by no more than two eligible students with one taking the role of “Attorney” and the other taking the role of “Client”, and vice versa for the second preliminary round.  An individual Mediation brings together performers from four different teams each representing a different institute.
