National Moot Court Competition, School of Law, Christ

********************* DATES FOR THE YEAR 2021 ARE AWAITED ********************* About the Institute School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore, was founded and is administered by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). It one of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by the NAAC. About the Competition The National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) is the flagship event of the Moot Court Society of School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. The previous editions of the NMCC have hosted various legal luminaries including Late Shri Ram Jethmalani, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao, and Ms. Indira Jai Singh, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India. The 11th edition of the National Moot Court Competition is scheduled to be held from November 5 to 8, 2020 virtually. Introduction The 11th School of Law, CHRIST National Moot Court Competition (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”) is the flagship event of School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) and is scheduled to be held from 5 – 8 November 2020. The competition will be conducted virtually by the Moot Court Society, School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University). Participation All law colleges/ institutions/ universities across the country recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to take part in the Competition. All participants must be currently pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in Law, i.e., either 3 year or 5-year courses. Only one team per college/institution/university shall be allowed to participate. Registration Competition registration shall be based on a first come first serve basis to 40 participating teams. Registration shall be successful upon completion of all formalities mentioned in the Rules. The last day for Online Registration is 15th October 2020 (by 6:00 PM). Request for Refund of Registration Fee shall not be entertained. Team Composition Each participating team can comprise either two (2) or three (3) members. In the case of two (2) members, both the members shall be designated as speakers. In the case of three (3) members, two (2) Members shall be designated as speakers and one (1) member shall be designated as the researcher. No change in Composition of Team shall be entertained after the completion of Registration. Official Language The official language of the competition shall be English. All competition rounds, memoranda and compendiums must be in English. Registration Fees The registration fee (without accommodation) for the Competition is INR 1,500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred Only). Registration fee is only payable in favour of Christ University, Bengaluru via the online portal at https://southindianbank.in/ChristFee/, please select the “FEST’ option followed by which you may select “The National Moot Court Competition 2020” and proceed with the payment, attached in Annexure – A is the relevant screenshots indicating the process. Dress Code The dress code for all participants throughout the competition shall be white Shirt, black blazer, and black trousers, black tie for men and white shirt/kurta, black blazer, black trousers for women. Competition Format The 11th School of Law, CHRIST, National Moot Court Competition, 2020 shall consist of a Researcher’s Test and the following oral rounds, Preliminary Rounds, Octa-Final Round, Quarter-Final Round, Semi-Final Round and the Final Round. The Octa-Final, Quarter- Final, Semi-Final and the Final Round shall be knockout rounds where each team will argue only once either for the Petitioner/Applicant or Respondent. NALSAR Justice BR Sawhney Memorial Moot Court

********************* DATES FOR THE YEAR 2021 ARE AWAITED ********************* About the Organisation The 13th NALSAR Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition is being organised from 6th March to 8th March 2020 in collaboration with Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust (BRSMT) and Eastern Book Company (EBC) and SCC Online as Knowledge Partners. About the Moot The Competition will be held at NALSAR University of Law, ‘Justice City’, Shamirpet, Hyderabad. The Moot shall be judged by esteemed lawyers involved in the practice of Constitutional Law from across the country and judicial clerks from the Supreme Court of India. Administration The NALSAR- Justice B.R. Sawhny Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition (“Competition”) is held and administered by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad with the aid of the Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust. SCC Online and EBC are associated as Knowledge Partners. The Competition is to be held on March 06-08, 2020 at NALSAR University of Law, Justice City, Shameerpet, Hyderabad. Prof. Balakista Reddy, Registrar, NALSAR University of Law, shall be the ‘National Coordinator’ of the Moot Court Competition. Oral Rounds and Memorial submission shall be in English. Structure of the Competition The Competition consists of two levels: (a) Memorial Elimination Round and (b) National Rounds. The teams which qualify for the Memorial Elimination Round shall be allowed to participate in the National Rounds, which is comprised of Preliminary Rounds and Advanced Rounds viz. Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals. Eligibility Each Institution offering an undergraduate LL.B. DegreeCourse is eligible to participate in the same. A Team may not have members from more than one Institution. Similarly, no more than one team can participate from any Institution. The Competition is open for students in LL.B. Undergraduate Degree Courses and LL.M. Degree Courses. Team Composition Each team shall comprise a minimum of two members, both performing the role of Speaker or a maximum of three members consisting of two (2) Speakers and one (1) Researcher. The substitution of any Team Member is not allowed after the registration deadline except in extenuating circumstances and only with the written permission of the National Coordinator. Every team shall consist of two speakers. Teams may have only one researcher. A researcher shall be allowed to argue instead of a speaker only with the permission of the Court. No certificate nor accommodation shall be provided to a fourth member. The email should contain the duly filled in a scanned copy of the Registration Form. Each registered team would be allotted a provisional Team Code. The teams must also fill the google form sent along with the invite. Registration Fee (After Memorial Elimination Round) Teams that clear the Memorial Elimination Round and are invited to participate in the Moot Court Competition as per Rule 4.5 must send a registration fee of Rs. 6,500/- via Online Transfer (NEFT) latest by 29th February 2020. CCI-NUJS Moot Court Competition

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata has collaborated with the Competition Commission of India to bring to you the 3rd CCI-NUJS National Moot Court Competition 2021 from July 9th, 2021 to July 11th, 2021. About the University The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences was established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999 (West Bengal Act IX of 1999) adopted by the West Bengal Legislature in July 1999. The University was notified under Clause (f) of Section 2 of the UGC Act, 1956 in August 2004 and has been granted permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India in July 2005. The Chief Justice of India is the Chancellor of the University. About the Competition Commission of India The Competition Act, 2002, as amended by the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2007 prohibits anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position by enterprises and regulates combinations (acquisition, acquiring of control and M&A), which causes or likely to cause an appreciable adverse effect on competition within India. The objectives of the Act are sought to be achieved through the Competition Commission of India, consisting of a Chairperson and 6 Members appointed by the Central Government. It is the duty of the Commission to eliminate practices having an adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition, protect the interests of consumers and ensure freedom of trade in the markets of India. issues. About the Moot Competition Law is an upcoming area of law that seeks to promote fair and just trade practices. It regulates competition in the market by maintaining a check on anti-competitive conduct and ensures that market players refrain from the same. Modern Competition Law has evolved on a national level with the promotion and maintenance of fair-trade practices in markets, within the domestic boundaries of a nation-state. Law schools play an important role in inculcating and encouraging the growth of competition law, by organizing debates, panel discussions, moot court competitions and encouraging research and legal writing pertaining to this subject. Introduction The administrator of the Competition shall be the Competition Committee (the “CC”) as constituted by the Society for International Trade and Competition Law (SITC), NUJS. The Competition shall be conducted in accordance with these Rules, and all teams and participants shall be presumed to have read and understood these Rules. Each college or university may enter only one team. Team Composition and Selection A Team shall be ordinarily composed of three (3) members, with two Oralists and one Researcher. A two-member team comprising of only two Oralists with no Researcher will also be permitted. A minimum of two members will thus be required for each team. Teams would not be allowed to have any observer members. Outside Assistance to Teams All research, writing and editing must solely be the product of Team members. Use of Opposing Team's Written Submissions No Team shall be allowed to view or otherwise be privy to any Written Submission other than the respective Appellant and Respondent written submissions of the teams they face during the course of the Competition. Team Registration Registering Names of Team Members Each Team shall fill the Registration Form. The CC shall intimate the concerned college or university of the receipt of the application. K.K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court

The Competition The Oral Rounds of the K. K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court, 2022 [“the Competition”] will be held from the 10th to the 16th of January 2022 through a video-conferencing platform. Eligibility Members of the team must be valid UNDERGRADUATE students pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law (or international equivalent) programme. (Note – Bachelor of Law means a 3 or year course post-graduation or 5 years integrated course for Indian students or an undergraduate degree in law recognized by the Bar or Regulator of where the student is undergoing education). Only ONE team can register from a particular College or Law School for participation in the competition. In the event two registrations are received from the same College or Law School, the Team which submits a letter first by the Head / Dean of the Institution / Moot Court Committee, authorizing them to participate on behalf of the College or Law School shall be entitled to participate and will be registered. Team Composition Each team shall consist of two speakers and one researcher or two speakers only. The Organizers will assign a code to each team and its members. Registration The teams will have to register themselves at http://www.kkluthramoot.org by completing and submitting the Registration Form available on the website no later than 10.00 pm [IST] on 31.10.2021. Upon successful completion and submission of the Registration Form, each team will receive an email from the Organizers informing them of their successful Registration. If a team does not receive such an email, it may contemporaneously send an email with its registration details to [email protected] and a response will be sent by email by the Organizers within 07 (seven) days informing the team of its successful Registration. Registration Forms will have to be completed and submitted with all material particulars by the teams. Please note that incomplete Registration Forms shall not be accepted. The composition of the team cannot be changed once a team has registered. There is no Registration Fee for registering or participating in the competition. Teams that have successfully registered will be provided with a Unique Registration Number [‘URN’] by email. Once allotted, the URN must be mentioned in all future correspondence with the Organizers. Nani Palkhivala Memorial Tax Moot Court Competition

Administration Nani A. Palkhivala Memorial National Tax Moot Court Competition is presented by the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners and Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai. The Competition is to be held from 26th November 2021 – 28th November 2021 on a virtual platform. A person may be a Team Member if he or she: is pursuing a law degree or an international law-related degree; is enrolled at an eligible institution as a full-time student during the relevant Competition Year and plans to participate in the Competition on behalf of that institution; has not engaged in the practice of law in any jurisdiction after graduating from any type of law degree program, and is not pursuing any post-graduate degree programme from any university or institution. The last date for registration will be 30th November 2019. The number of participant teams from India shall be limited to 20. The preference to teams shall be given in order of their registration. The organizing committee will have the sole and absolute discretion to shortlist the participants. The decision of the organizing committee will be final and binding on all concerned. The shortlisted teams will be required to reconfirm their participation and their acceptance of being bound by the rules of the competition within the time stipulated by the organizing committee. It shall be compulsory for all the participants to be present at the inaugural programme, final Round and valedictory function of the competition. The organizing committee will not be liable for providing the certificates if teams fail to attend the function. Team Composition Each team shall comprise two speakers and one researcher. The team shall send their particulars to the organizers by the dates to be decided by the administrators, on the college letterhead duly signed by the Principal/Directors/Dean as the case may be. The organizers will provide boarding and lodging for three days namely, 20th, 21st, & 22nd March 2020 to three participants only. The organizers will not be responsible for providing or arranging transport or accommodation for teams arriving prior to 19th March 2020. The organizers will not be responsible for providing accommodation or transport to any other accompanying person with the team. Within 10 days after receiving confirmation of participation from the Organizing Committee, the teams shall send their confirmed travel plan along with scanned copies of their air/train/bus tickets. Competition Rounds There shall be two (2) preliminary rounds of arguments per team, one from each side (subject to the number of teams participating). XI M. K. Nambyar Memorial National Level Moot Court Competition 2021

Karnatak Law Society’s Raja Lakhamgouda Law College, Belagavi, Karnataka is pleased to announce the XI M. K. Nambyar Memorial National Level Moot Court Competition will be held in April And May 2021. The event will be divided into two phases, partly online and partly offline. The competition is patronised by Shri K. K. Venugopal, alumnus and the present Attorney General of India in the memory of his father and a great constitutional advocate, Shri M. K. Nambyar. Langauge The language of the Competition shall be English. Eligibility Law schools/Colleges/ Institutes/ Universities, recognized by the Bar Council of India, are eligible to participate in the competition. The participants should currently be pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in Law i.e., Three-Year or Five-Year Law Courses and must have studied Constitutional Law subject in their course. Students who have not yet studied Constitutional Law as one of the subjects are not eligible. Composition of Teams Each team shall comprise of two Mooters and may also have a Researcher. Objective of the Competition The Seventh Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Asian Mooting, Students' Conference and Judicial Colloquium - India Round aims at honing legal advocacy skills among law students of Asian countries. The Seventh Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Asian Mooting, Students' Conference and Judicial Colloquium - India Round shall consist of two stages: - the India round and the Asian round; both to be held via Online video Conferencing medium, ZOOM cloud meetings. * The India round will be held from 26th November 2021 to 28th November 2021. Only seven teams from the India round shall qualify to represent India in the Asian round. Madhava Menon Asian Mooting, Students' Conference and Judicial Colloquium - India Round will be shortlisted for the consideration by the Jury to select the Best Law Student of the Year Awardee to receive a fellowship of $ 50000 USD from Penn State University, School of Law, USA to pursue LLM. Students from any University/Department/Institute not recognized by the Bar Council of India, to impart law degrees are not eligible to apply. Team Composition A team may consist of a maximum of three members and a minimum of two members. A team may consist of 3 members that shall include two orators and one researcher. If a team consists of two members, both members shall be the orators. All three members of a team should belong to the same institution. Any team, intending to change the team composition of the team shall intimate the Governing Council by sending an e-mail at [email protected]. Any person, other than the registered team members, is not eligible to avail facilities reserved for the student participants. Registration Each team shall provisionally register for the 5 Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, National Moot Court Competition, filling the provisional registration form through this link latest by 23 October 2020, 11:59 pm. Provisional registration after the given deadline shall not be accepted, under any circumstances. On receipt of the duly filled provisional registration form, the institute shall respond to the participating team, acknowledging the receipt. After the deadline for the provisional registration expires, the Governing Council shall respond to each provisionally registered team with a unique team code, which shall be used to identify the teams during the competition. On completion of the aforementioned registration process, any team may withdraw from the competition by duly filling the withdrawal form on or before 18th November 2020. Registration Fee The registration fee for the competition is Rs. 600 per team. (In words- Rupees Six Hundred per team inclusive of 18% GST. The registration fee is to be paid only by the teams that are selected for the Oral Rounds. Payment of Registration Fee The registration fee for the ‘5 Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad, National Moot Court Competition is to be paid through a wire transfer only. No other payment method shall be accepted. The deadline for payment of the registration fee is 3rd January 2021. Any additional charges incurred by the team while making the wire transfer are to be borne by the team. All teams must attach a screenshot/scanned copy of the receipt generated on payment of the registration fee to the form. Prizes and Awards The winner of the Final Round shall be declared as the “Winner” of the competition and shall be awarded a certificate of merit. The other team that made it to the Final Round shall be declared “Runners up” and shall be awarded be with a certificate of merit. Best Speaker shall be determined on the basis of the highest average marks obtained in the preliminary round and shall be awarded a certificate of merit. Best Memorial shall be determined on the basis of the highest marks obtained in the memorial round and shall be awarded a certificate of merit. Every participating team shall be awarded a ‘Certificate of Participation’. No ‘Certificate of Participation shall be granted to those teams who have not qualified for the memorial round. Trophy, Gifts, Cash prizes and other prizes given by sponsors, if any, shall be additional to what has been mentioned. E-certificates will be granted for both the certificate of appreciation and certificate of appreciation.

British High Commission - Jindal Global University Moot Court Competition

The Competition is organized by Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University and the British High Commission [“BHC”]. About the Moot The moot concerns legal issues on which the British High Commission works in its engagement with its British and Indian citizens, especially with criminal cases where British citizens are involved as perpetrators or victims of crimes, on Indian soil. The moot gives participants a novel opportunity to create a “Strategy Note” as their first submission in the preliminary round. In this innovative format that is a cross between client counselling and a moot court competition, the first round will be a hands-on experience where teams will put their thinking caps on and tackle legal and extra-legal strategies to work with a set of British clients. Based on the “Strategy Note,” 8 teams will make it through to the advanced rounds where the final problem will be tackled in a classic moot format. The top 16 will receive certificates of ‘honourable mention’ for their stellar performance in the first round. The Grand Finale will take place at the BHC headquarters in Delhi, with judges from Inner Temple, U.K. and Chevening Scholars. The moot will provide an unparalleled opportunity to be mentored by the finest judges from Inner temple, the U.K. in addition to a number of other exciting prizes up for grabs for the finalists, including but not limited to a range of books and potentially a tour of the Inner Temple premises. Students enrolled for research degrees are not eligible to participate. These requirements do not apply to coaches or advisors to the teams. Number of Team Members Teams shall comprise of three members, with two speakers and one researcher. No other individual may assist the team with researching, writing, editing or otherwise constructing its arguments. Failure to observe this rule may result in disqualification. Team Coaches or Advisors and Observers Each team may register only one (1) coach/advisor in addition to the team members. The participation of observers affiliated with the team must be communicated to the OC before the last date for registration and must be approved by the OC. Observers are allowed to attend merely in an observational capacity and are not allowed to assist the team or communicate with them in any manner during the pendency of Oral Rounds. The team coach/advisor shall not be allowed to contribute towards the preparation of the written submissions of the Team and shall not be allowed to function as a speaker or researcher during oral pleadings. A coach/advisor should limit their role to providing general guidance with respect to the subject matter of the Competition. Registration To participate in the moot, teams will have to fill an application indicating their intention to be part of the moot. The OC shall have the discretion to select teams amongst those who apply, ensuring regional and gender parity as far as possible. At the time of registration, teams shall select an official point of contact from the participating team who will be responsible for all official correspondence between the team and the OC. Changes to the registered information will not normally be permitted. Exceptional circumstances may be brought to the attention of the OC, who may permit modifications on a discretionary basis. The decision of the OC shall be final in this regard. After registration, participating teams will be provided with a Team Code, which will serve as their unique identifier for submitting the Strategy Note and at the Oral Rounds. Teams shall strictly only use their Team Code and shall not disclose the names of their Universities or names of individual team members on their submitted Strategy Notes, or in the presence of judges, during the Competition. Competition Scoring and Prizes The following prizes will be awarded in two categories: ‘Winner’ and ‘Runner-up’, except for the Best Oralist – Finals. The top 16 teams with the highest aggregate points for the Strategy Note will be awarded the ‘Honorable Mention for the Strategy Note.’ Best Individual Oralist The participant with the highest average score at the conclusion of the Preliminary Rounds will be adjudged the Best Individual Oralist. The average score will be calculated by dividing the total number of points of each speaker by the number of times the speaker has presented oral arguments, provided that the participant has presented an oral pleading at least two (2) times during the Preliminary Rounds. Best Oralist – Finals There will be an award for the Best Oralist in the finals. This prize will be decided by comparing the individual scores of speakers only in the finals. In the event that the finals are determined by consultation/deliberation amongst judges, this award will also be determined by consultation/deliberation amongst the judges. There shall be no Runner up prize in this category. Other Awards There will be awards for teams emerging as ‘Winners’ and ‘Runners Up’ for the Competition. The OC may determine further awards to be presented to recognize distinguished performance, whether by teams or individuals during the Competition.

It gives us immense pleasure to announce the 10th edition of the National Moot Court Competition, 2021 (NMCC) in association with the Competition Commission of India, which is set to take place from April 16th to 18th, 2021. Owing to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this time the event is set to take place virtually. This edition’s problem is based on contemporary and developing aspects of Competition Law along with Intellectual Property Rights. TNNLU-CCI National Online Moot Court Competition

About the Moot Competition law is a rapidly developing field of law although being relatively new in the Indian legal sphere. The applicability of Competition law is wide and is spread across various disciplines of commerce, consumer protection, and jurisprudence of free trade and is constantly evolving. In this connection, the TNNLU – CCI Moot aims to further the vision of the CCI by promoting, sustaining, and enabling young scholars and providing a platform for engagement and discourse. The MCC of TNNLU has been regularly conducting various inter and intra-moot court competitions since 2014. The first edition of the National Moot Court Competition was organized from 24th to 26th March 2017. In 2018, MCC collaborated with the Indian Fair-Trade Regulator, Competition Commission of India (CCI) for the first time to organize the 1st edition of the TNNLU – CCI National Moot Court Competition which saw large participation from law students all over India. The 2nd TNNLU – CCI National Moot Court Competition conducted in 2019, and the 3rd edition in 2020. This year we are happy to collaborate with CCI once again to organize the 4th edition from May 28th – 30th, 2021. The moot problem is based on ‘crisis cartelization’ during a pandemic. Registration General Rules for Registration In this edition of the competition, the registration will be restricted to only 24 Teams of which 16 teams will qualify for the preliminary round through the memorial qualifier round. All the Teams desirous of participating in the Competition should provisionally register themselves by sending an email to [email protected] through the Moot Court Committee of their Institution/College/University or the Faculty Coordinator of the Moot Court Committee. Final registration formalities should be completed by the Team only after receiving an affirmative reply from the OC to the provisional registration email. Institutions may provisionally register and reserve a slot. However, the slot will be revoked if the team fails to complete the registration process. Provisional Registration Provisional Registration for the Competition shall open on 16th March 2021. Institutions can temporarily block a slot by writing to the Organizers at [email protected].
