It was founded in 1966 and provides data, analysis and recommendations for armed conflict, military expenditure and arms trade as well as disarmament and arms control.   About the Competition Authors are invited to describe challenges from a legal standpoint and propose potential policy recommendations on a selected topic. Analysis from local, national and regional perspectives on selected topics are encouraged.   Theme Contemporary Challenges in Disarmament and Non-Proliferation   Suggested Topics The future of non-proliferation and/or disarmament through hard law and/or soft law. Risks posed by rapidly advancing technologies (cyber space, outer space, artificial intelligence) in International Humanitarian Law. About GCSEL The Gujarat National Law University Centre for Sports and Entertainment Law ( GCSEL) is one of the country’s first center’s that works in the area of sports and entertainment.   About the Competition Major Dhyan Chand was an Indian field hockey player, widely regarded as one of the greatest field hockey players in history. Commemorating his achievements and sporting spirit, the GNLU Sports Committee presents you with an opportunity to showcase your knowledge and writing skills. Sports are a crucial part of a student’s growth and development. They help in the development of mental health and physical fitness of the body. The sports industry today is highly competitive and has a global reach. However, competitive sporting, unfortunately bears witness to doping. Doping in sports is the use of banned athletic performance-enhancing drugs by athletic competitors as a way of cheating in sports. The term doping is widely used by organizations that regulate sporting competitions. There are numerous organizations in place to keep a check on doping in sports. However, there are various legal aspects involved in the same and this essay competition aims to spread awareness about doping in sports and give the participants a platform to discuss issues related to doping in sports law and put forth their opinions on various laws related to the same. The goal of this competition is to foster a constructive discussion about sports law and the intricacies of sports and doping by enlisting the students’ creative perspective.   Eligibility This competition is open to students pursuing their legal degrees (undergraduate/postgraduate) or any other such course equivalent, from all recognised universities across the world.   Themes Criminalization of doping in sports Doping and gender issues Doping in e-sports and its regulation. Vicarious liability in doping cases Evolving drugs and the steps taken by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) The forensic approach to Anti-doping in sports Regulated use of performance enhancing drugs in certain sports The Implications of the National Anti-Doping Bill Standard of proof in Doping cases International standards for testing samples of Athletes The right against Self-Incrimination and Doping test Health implications on the mental and physical capabilities of the sports persons, due to doping The challenges to legal remedies in anti doping in sports Sports arbitration arising out of anti doping violations Note: The participants are encouraged, but not restricted to the abovementioned themes. About GNLU Gujarat National Law University is a statutory University established by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003.   About the Centre The GNLU Centre for Research in Criminal Justice Sciences is dedicated to specialized studies in the field of Criminal Law, wherein the main objective is to encourage research and analysis in this dynamic field of law.   About the Competition The GNLU Centre for Research in Criminal Justice Sciences is organising the first edition of its Legislation Drafting Competition. The competition provides a remarkable opportunity for individuals to learn the nuances of legislative drafting and hone their skills in that respect. The competition will help the participant to understand the intricacies of the process of drafting from identifying the issues to striking a standard balance between the ideal and the pragmatic aspects. Legislative drafting fosters students’ capacity to observe the current legal issues and lacunas and offer solutions in that regard, as well as expand the horizons of their knowledge, analytical skills, and interpretation of the law.   Eligibility The competition welcomes students across all law schools to participate and help in the dissemination of ideas and experiences on the prescribed topic. The competition is open to all students pursuing LLM or LLB from a recognized Law College/University. There is no restriction on the number of participants from a particular university. The participant can register individually as well as in a team that may comprise a maximum number of 2 members.   Language English   Topic Prevention of Substance Abuse in Higher Educational Institutions and Schools   Submission Guidelines The text must be in Times New Roman with Size 12, line spacing should be set to 1.5, no paragraph spacing with a one-inch margin on each side, and the alignment of the text should be justified. Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, Size 10, with Single Line spacing. Page numbers must be given at the Top Right-Hand Corner. The draft shall not exceed 25 pages (excluding the cover page). The cover page of the submission should include the Long Title of the bill along with the name of the Author(s), with the Author’s designation. The statute under which it was established is the Protection of Human Rights Act (PHRA), 1993, amended by the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Act, 2006.   About the Competition The 3rd edition of the HPNLU National Moot Court Competition, 2022, in association with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) shall be conducted in offline mode. It is multidisciplinary and involves a systematic search of the crime scene with meticulous observation and documentation of the scene; photography and sketching; the identification, processing, and collection of physical evidence such as fingerprints, footprints, hair, fibres, biological fluids, and materials for DNA analysis; and perhaps the most important, the application of observational skills and reasoning capacity by the participants.   Eligibility The competition is not barred to any field of study. The institute is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, and its professional courses in Law and Business Administration are recognized by the Bar Council of India and the Government of NCT, Delhi.   About the Competition The Competition intends to build dedicated debaters who grow up to become persuasive speakers, analytical thinkers, and proficient researchers. Not only do debaters learn to write well-reasoned and persuasive arguments, but they also learn to love researching and writing. Debate work becomes a satisfying competitive outlet for a student’s creativity and intellect. Moreover, both debate and legal work involve applying relevant theory and precedent to the specific text of a codified law or resolution. This year the debate revolves around the Legal Implications of Abortion Laws. Abortion is an extensively discussed issue in both National and International diasporas. The right to life is a very broad concept and the most fundamental of all. In India, the right to life has been recognized under Article 21 of the Constitution which says that “No person shall be deprived of his life and personal liberty except according to the procedure established by law”. The person here is inclusive of both men and women. Among various rights a woman has the right to abortion is also believed to be one of the essential rights which are available to a woman, the right to abortion is also believed to be one of the most essential and fundamental rights. But the question always arises whether an unborn child should be considered a human being and be given the status of a person or not. There are various religious, ethical, and moral aspects which are related to the right to abortion. The present debate wants to shed light upon the legal aspect of abortion laws and women’s reproductive rights in contemporary times.   Theme of the Competition Legal Implications of Abortion Laws: “Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice”   Eligibility The Competition is open to all colleges/university students from all countries. Students enrolled in any UG/PG course are eligible to participate in the competition. Each team shall comprise two participants with one speaking for and the other against the motion. The motions will be framed keeping in mind the interests of all the participants.   Registration Fees INR 700 per team. Participants are encouraged to register in a team of two under the banner of their respective institutions. An institution shall be allowed to send a maximum of two teams for the competition. Each participant shall be allotted a maximum of 5 minutes to speak (4 minutes for constructive speech and 1 minute for rebuttal). Exceeding the time limit shall prejudice the team’s overall score.
