Two days Virtual State Level Moot Court Competition by Nari Gursahani Law College, Ulhasnagar

About the College The institute was established in August 2004, by the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board (HSNC Board). The college is affiliated to University of Mumbai. Nari Gursahani Law College is named after the legendary Supreme Court advocate and humanist. About the Moot Court Competition Nari Gursahani Law College is organising a two-day virtual state-level moot court competition from September 24 to 24, 2022, under its 13th Dada Nari Gursahani Festival- Vidhi Manthan. Format of the Moot Court The Competition will have two rounds, Preliminary Round and Final Round. Language The language of the Competition will be English. Eligibility Students pursuing 3 years/ 5 years LL.B. degree course are eligible to participate in this Competition. Only one team can participate from one Institution/University/College. Team Composition Each team shall consist of- Three members i.e. two mooters and one researcher only. All three members of the team should belong to the same Institution. In no situation whatsoever a team consisting of more than 3 members shall be allowed to participate. No observer/ additional member can be a part of the team in any capacity. There shall be no substitution of any team member after a team has submitted its registration form, except with the permission of the Organizers. Registration Details To confirm participation, teams of every Institution should register themselves. The registration link is given at the end of this post. The scanned copy of the duly filled registration form must be uploaded in the Google Registration Form. There is no Registration fee. However, it is mandatory for the participants to register themselves at the abovementioned link. The duly filled Google Form for registration with team details must be submitted to the organizing committee at [email protected] on or before September 5, 2022. Each team shall be given a ‘‘Team Code’’ by the Organizers on validation of their Google Form after registration confirmation. The teams shall use their designated “Team Code” for all correspondence with the Organizers. The same team code must be used by the teams during the submission of Memorials and the Competition. Prizes The winner of the Final Round will be awarded an E-Merit Certificate and a cash prize of INR 8,000. The runner-up of the Final Round will be awarded an E-Merit Certificate and a cash prize of INR 6,000. The team with the highest memorial score will be awarded the ‘Best researcher’ E-Certificate and a cash prize of INR 3000/-. ‘Best Mooter’ will be awarded a cash prize of INR 3000/-. About the Client Consulting Competition Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the prestigious 22nd National Client Consulting Competition for Justice P. Govinda Menon Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy, hosted by the Kerala Law Academy will be held on virtual mode from November 10 to 12, 2022 from the Kerala Law Academy Campus, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The Client Consulting Competition is intended to explore the client-lawyer interaction skills and improve the problem analyzing techniques of the students and give such information that a client would like to know regarding his legal problem/case. In order to satiate the client, a lawyer is expected to have excellent listening and advisory skills required to conduct a successful client interview. About the Quiz Competition After the successful conduct of the 3rd National AQCL, Amity Law School, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus is organising the 4th edition of the National Amity Quiz on Constitutional Law (AQCL –IV). The Agreements are said to enhance power from renewable sources and overcome the paucity faced due to the use of traditional funding sources. The Competition on the basis of the information seeks to engage with the community of law students in India to promote the art of modern legal drafting, in the less talked about areas of Energy Law. About the Competition Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the 3rd National ADR Competition hosted by the Kerala Law Academy will be held via virtual mode on 12th October 2022 from the Kerala Law Academy Campus, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The competition is conducted through the online platform ZOOM. All the participating teams should have good access to the internet and be able to access the above said online platform at the scheduled dates and time. Competition Procedure Hypothetical problems with the legal subject matter and disputes may be assimilated and developed into the role-playing format through imagination and the individual skill of the participants. No- S000044, 2019-20. About the Competition It has been rightly said that All Life is Problem-Solving. Problems are integrated with life. There’s hardly anyone who has never had a problem in his life. And is it really a life that doesn’t have any problem at all? Maybe not, because life is about experiences and experiences are largely the results of the problems we face and the ways in which we end up solving them. Sometimes all we need is someone who would patiently listens to our problems, that solves half the problem already. This thought made the organizers come up with an opportunity for every law student who wants to talk about their problems in the form of an Essay Writing Competition. Guidelines for the Competition Talk about your academic background before joining law school. (10th and 12th, the marks obtained therein, any setbacks suffered, etc.) Talk about your motivation to pursue law as a career. Talk about your experiences while preparing for competitive examinations like CLAT, AILET, or any other examination; the role of coaching institutes, and any other detail that you find relevant. Give out your opinion on the registration fees charged for these examinations. Talk about the issues you’ve faced at the law school, about experiences good or bad, about your curriculum, and your thoughts on the same. Give out your opinion on the fees charged by the law schools, affordability of the courses, financial issues faced if any, etc. If you’re a first-generation law student then talk about any issue peculiar to you. If you’re a graduate, write down the issues you’ve faced after law school in finding a job, choosing the right career path, or anything you consider relevant. Finally give out your suggestions for solving all or any of the issue(s) that you’ve faced. This is going to be a formal way of writing your story, sharing your experiences, and giving out some suggestions so that aspiring lawyers or law students get some insightful information. Your participation will also help the academicians and administration in understanding students’ issues. It will also serve as the basis for our future endeavor named ‘Centre for First Generation Lawyers’, where the organizers will come up with a mechanism to help such students by providing them with better opportunities. Content Guidelines Authors must conform to the following guidelines before submission– The essay should reflect original and unpublished work of the author. Descriptive pieces are discouraged. The authors should submit analytical work. Co-authorship upto two authors are allowed. Submissions should preferably contain hyperlinks within the text itself for citing the resources instead of footnotes. If hyperlinking the resources is not possible, the submission may contain Blue Book 20th Edition or any uniform citation style to cite authorities as endnotes. Authors should restrict their submissions between 1000-4000 words. Evaluation Criteria The essays would be evaluated on the following broad parameters: Novelty/originality of the idea, articulation, structure, relevancy and authors’ insight. Eligibility The competition is open to every student pursuing a five-year or three-year course in law from various Schools/Colleges/Universities recognized by the Bar Council of India. For eligibility, it is hereby clarified that all the participants in one team shall belong to one institution only. No cross-institutional composition of teams is allowed. The provisional registration is to be done by the respective institutions officially. Each institution can reserve a maximum of two slots in the provisional registration. Team Composition Each team shall comprise 3 participants- one mediator, one client, and one counsel. The roles of the participants shall remain the same throughout the rounds. Format of the Competition The Mediation Proposition shall be released after the closing of final registration. There will be two preliminary rounds. Post preliminary rounds, ballots will be scored for each team, and the top 8 client-counsel pairs and Mediators will qualify for the quarter-finals. Post-quarter-finals, the top 4 client-counsel pairs, and Mediators will qualify for Semi-finals. The top two performers from each category of roles (Client X Counsel pair and Mediator) played by the participants will qualify for the final round. Mode The Competition will be virtual/online via Cisco Webex Portal. How to Register Provisional registration will be opened for all eligible institutes from which thirty-two teams will be selected for the competition. The provisional registration is to be done by the respective institutions officially. Each institution can reserve a maximum of two slots in the provisional registration. Team Composition Each team shall consist of two bona fide students enrolled in 3/5 year undergraduate law programme in a law college/university recognised by the Bar Council of India. The registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, up to a maximum of 24 teams. Every institution may register a maximum of two teams. Team members must be of the same institute; cross-teams are NOT allowed. Format of the Competition Each round consists of two stages: Stage 1: Client counselling Stage 2: Negotiation Stage 1 Each team consisting of two members shall assume the role of advocates/legal counsels and interview the client, who shall be provided by the host college Client counselling and negotiation are part of the same round, the substance of the problem will remain the same. At the end of Stage 1, Confidential Information (“CI”) pertaining to the problem will be released. The CI shall be specific to each team, depending on whether their client from Stage 1 was the Requesting or the Responding Party A duration of 15 minutes will be given to the teams to peruse the CI before the commencement of Stage 2. Teams are to negotiate based on the information/objectives provided to them in the CI, and make strategic use of the same Stage 2 Two teams square off against one another in Stage 2, i.e., negotiation, wherein the members of the team assume the roles of client and counsel The teams will then be marked cumulatively for their performance in both stages, and shall be ranked accordingly Rounds The rounds of the competition are structured as below: Two Preliminary Rounds Semi-Finals (Top 4) Finals Registration Details The registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, up to a maximum of 24 teams.
