About JICIL Journal of Innovation, Competition & Information Law (JICIL) is a peer-reviewed tri-annual journal aimed at understanding the nexus of the three areas viz. Intellectual Property Law, the legal custodian of any Innovation, Anti-Trust Laws which promote and encourage competition and IP and Information Law that binds the subject-matter of the other two laws. JICIL also deals with data protection and privacy that pertains to information, and focuses on technology and telecommunication laws as part of its ambit.   Structure of Editorial Board JICIL structures its editorial board into two categories viz. Reviewers and Editors. Reviewers are members of academia and researchers who are well-versed with the areas of law that JICIL deals with who engage in review of manuscripts, while Editors handle day-to-day operations of JICIL. The editorial work would involve a combination of administrative tasks, editorial tasks relating to handling and editing of manuscripts received from authors and pre-review work by senior editorial members elected on the Pre-Review Panel. Editors may or may not be provided a stipend for every trimester. This may be in the form of cash. However, best performing editors would be recognized and provided a cash prize every trimester, as determined by Managing Editors.   Eligibility Any undergraduate, graduate student or doctoral student is eligible to be an editor/reviewer in the editorial board. The candidate must demonstrate interest in competition law, intellectual property, technology law, telecommunications law, data protection law and privacy law or related areas of law and must commit to the aims and objectives of the journal.   Selection Process In addition to screening candidates based on profile and submission of a response, they may telephonically interview shortlisted candidates briefly or provide them with a timed-response test prior to selection.   Onboarding of Peer-Reviewers If any graduate scholar, faculty member, or professional would like to volunteer in aiding in the peer-review process or further steps, they will be happy to onboard peer-reviewers on Review Board, further to a short screening process. It must contain an analysis of the current legal scenario, help the reader identify the lacunae therein, and provide constructive suggestions. Short Articles (5,000 – 6,000 words): The category includes submissions that undertake an in-depth study of specific legal issues and gives the reader valuable insight into the legal challenge identified by the author. Essays (4,000 – 5,000 words): The category is inclusive of both case notes and comments that discuss any contemporary question of law.   Submission Guidelines Please note that the submissions must conform to the following requirements: All submissions must include an abstract of not more than 300 words, explaining the main idea, objective of the article and the conclusions drawn from it. Each submission may have maximum of two authors. The manuscript should be on A4 sized paper, in Garamond, font size 12, 1.15 line Spacing, justified and 1-inch margins on each side. Footnotes should be in Garamond, font size 10 and with single line spacing. The Authors must conform to the Bluebook (20th edition) Uniform System of Citation. Please refer to our guide to Bluebook (20th edition) here. The Manuscript should not contain any identification of the author/s, which shall be a ground for rejection of the submission. About CSR The Constitutional Studies Review (CSR) is a student-edited, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal that aims to promote discourse on Indian and comparative constitutional law, constitutional theory and comparative politics while engaging with contemporary issues that shape these fields. Academics, legal practitioners, researchers, students, professionals and scholars from the field of constitutional law and politics may submit original, unpublished articles for consideration.   Submission Categories Long articles: Between 5,000 and 10,000 words. Submissions should approach the chosen theme or idea in a novel manner, while comprehensively engaging with existing scholarship on the subject. The subject of the article may either be a contemporary issue of legal significance, or a theoretical exposition. Essays: Between 3,000 and 5,000 words. Essays are more concise in scope. An essay may either be a concise treatment of a specific issue or a theme within a wider subject, or the argument of a premise. Case Notes and Legislative Comments: Between 1,500 and 3,000 words. Analyses of judicial pronouncements and legislations, whether in India or elsewhere, may be submitted under this category. It is important that the Note adequately analyses the legal implication of the said case/legislation.   Submission Guidelines All submissions should be original, unpublished, and should not have plagiarized content. NUALS Constitutional Studies Review has an exclusive submission policy. By submitting the manuscripts to NUALS Constitutional Studies Review, the author(s) confirms that the manuscript has not been simultaneously sent to another journal for publication (online or print), until they have received a decision from us. All word limits are exclusive of footnotes. However, speaking footnotes must be limited to 50 words. Co-authorship is permissible for a maximum of three authors. About the Organizer Heritage Law College has been set up with a view to advancing and disseminating learning and knowledge of law and legal processes and their role in national development.   Eligibility  The competition is open to all students pursuing full time Undergraduate/Post Graduate Course provided by a recognized institution/university/college in India.   Location Heritage Law College, Kolkata, West Bengal.   Registration Details A registration Link will be shared with the Colleges separately. A soft copy of the Memorial is to be submitted within or by the 2nd of December, 2022 (11:59 P.M.) at mootcourt[at]hlc.edu.in.   Memorial Submission All memorials submitted for all purposes of the Competition shall firmly comply with the rules of the competition. Each participating team must prepare two written submissions, one for each Petitioner/Appellant as well as the Respondent/Defendant side. The name of the file for the memorial shall be the allocated team number followed by the first letter of the side represented; an ‘R’ for the Respondent and ‘A’ for Applicant. For example, the Respondent Memorial for Team 01 shall be named as follows: ‘T01R’ and the Applicant Memorial for Team 01 shall be named ‘T01A’. Memorials for both sides must be submitted in the same email above mentioned. The subject line should indicate the team number only. For example, the subject line for team 01 will read as follows: ‘Team 01 Memorials’. No other information revealing the identity should be included in the email. Petitioner/Appellant memorials are required to have a Blue cover and Respondent/Defendant(s) memorials are required to have a Red cover. “Team codes” will be provided after the completion of your final registration. Each Team shall carry with them _ hard copies of the memorial for the purpose of the competition (exclusive of copies required for personal use by the team). Each team shall submit the hard copies on the day of the competition itself, i.e. 8 December 2022.   Format of the Memorial The memorial shall be typed on an A4 size paper and all the pages of the memorial should have a page number at the bottom. The Font shall be in Times New Roman, Size 12 pts with Line Spacing of 1.5. Footnotes shall be in Font Times New Roman, Size 10 pts with Line Spacing of 1.0. Page Margins shall be an inch on all sides. All the citations and footnotes must be consistent and in compliance with the 20th Edition of Bluebook. The footnotes shall include only relevant citations and any other information supporting the arguments shall not be included. The colour scheme of the cover page for the Respondent memorial shall be RED and for the Applicant memorial shall be BLUE. About NLUO National Law University Odisha is one of India’s most reputed and premier law schools.   About CML In 2015, the NLUO Centre for Maritime Law was founded with the goal of strengthening theuniversity’s capability for maritime research. One of the Centre’s main goals has been to identify the outdated maritime legislation that was borrowed from other nations but does not sufficiently address the issues facing our nation.   Theme Authors are free to write on any theme and encouraged to write on any contemporary issues related to maritime law It is expected from the authors they provide any critical insight into it.   Submission Guidelines The Centre seeks blog article contributions about any topic in line with the theme of Maritime Law in the form of:- i) Any comments on recent contemporary developments in the maritime law industry. ii) Case Commentary on judgments by any recognized forum pertaining to maritime law. iii) Literature review of any published book on the topic of maritime law. Co-authorship is permitted but limited to only 2 authors. The authors need to follow appropriate formatting such as: – i) Font- Times New Roman ii) Font size- 12 iii) Spacing- 1.2 iv) End notes font size and spacing- 10 and Single line spacing v) Details such as page numbers, paragraph numbers for reference and headings etc., should be added compulsorily. Word Limit: The authors are required to submit their blog post articles within 800-1500. The authors might note that the word limit is flexible subject to the quality of work and discretion of the editor. Similarity Index: The similarity index needs to be less than 20% beyond which the submissions shall be rejected. The piece of work should be original and must include the opinion of the author on the issues addressed. Citations: The authors must follow the latest Bluebook format of citations in the form of endnotes. Blog articles carrying any other format of citations shall not be accepted unless updated and resubmitted by the authors.   How to Submit? Authors, upon submission, communicate their acceptance of the following conditions: The work, upon publication, becomes the property of AcLR; Permissions for subsequent publication/reprint and/or derivative works must be obtained from the Editors of AcLR. In the case of submission of an unsolicited manuscript, the submission itself does not secure a right of publication in AcLR. Subsequently, if the manuscript is found suitable for publication, as per AcLR’s standards of quality scholarship, the author(s) will receive a notification of acceptance from the Editors. When it comes to the intricate interactions between technology and legal policy, the Cell wants to be ahead of the curve.   About Techtonic 2023 The NLIU-CLT Technology and Law Fair: ‘Techtonic’ is a major flagship event organized by the NLIU Cell for Law and Technology annually. It provides a chance for aspiring lawyers to explore their talent as policy professionals as well as gain insight into various technology law-related issues. The two major highlights of this event are the NLIU-Ikigai Policy Case Competition which provides the students with an opportunity to question, analyze and improve upon the law on a pressing policy matter and the Round Table Conference which includes a panel discussion with renowned industry experts. ‘Techtonic 2023’ which is the second edition of CLT’s flagship event, is scheduled to be held from ‘February 10-12, 2023. The winners shall be awarded an Internship Opportunity with Ikigai Law.   About NLIU-Ikigai Policy Case Competition The NLIU-Ikigai Policy Case Competition, a one-of-a-kind competition in India, is hosted annually by the NLIU Cell for Law and Technology, as part of Techtonic, in order to inspire students to think critically, analytically, and creatively and to put forth policy proposals on real-life issues. The Cell is excited to organize the second iteration of the Competition this year, which will include participation from law students throughout the nation and abroad. Ikigai Law has consented to be our Law Firm Partner for the same. This year the Competition will be held entirely in a physical setup. The teams shall be asked to put forth policy proposals that will address the policy questions put before them. The submissions made by them will undergo review by the team at Ikigai and the qualifying teams will be expected to give an oral presentation before a panel of judges. After the first presentation (Preliminary Round), all participants shall be given detailed feedback pursuant to which they will be given an opportunity to revise their proposal within a day’s time. Mentors shall be provided for the day. Selected teams shall then present their revised proposals in front of the judges for the final round. The winner shall be decided on the basis of both written submission and final oral presentation.   Theme Internet Platform Regulation The internet and large internet platforms are all-pervasive in today’s world. One of the key challenges of our time is to find the sweet spot of regulation that balances user interests, regulatory concerns, and the need to allow innovative businesses to flourish. These are hard questions that countries all over the world are grappling with at the moment. Participants will be required to suggest a model for platform regulation that is best suited to India. This will involve examining and evaluating approaches to platform regulation across the globe and assessing whether these work for India.   Perks and Benefits Participants shall be given an opportunity to be a part of the Two Round Table Conferences this year, conducted as part of Techtonic 2023. The Round Table Conference shall include panelists who are the corps d’elite of the trade from across the nation and abroad. The Conference shall be graced by academicians as well as industry experts from various renowned law firms who shall present their viewpoints. All the participants of Techtonic shall have the opportunity to witness it on our scenic campus. Various publication opportunities shall be provided to the top ten policy proposals. All teams shall get a chance to impress various think tanks and NGOs to land long-term internship and mentoring opportunities on their proposed policies. All teams shall have the opportunity to interact with and get mentoring sessions with industry experts from think tanks and law firms. All teams shall have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with like-minded peers and colleagues. A Certificate of Participation shall be awarded to all participants. As a part of this initiative, CCLP publishes its flagship journal, the Indian Competition Law Review (“ICLR”).   About Competition Law Observer In furtherance of its objective to promote discussion and deliberation on various facets of competition law and address contemporary issues, CCLP started the Competition Law Observer Blog which, over the years, hosted submissions only from the members of CCLP. It is now thrilled to invite submissions from scholars, practitioners, authors, and students with the object of furthering discussion on competition law. The Blog can be accessed here.    Submission Categories CCLP welcomes all kinds of submissions, including (but not limited to) articles, research pieces, opinions, case comments, and short notes on competition law.   Submission Guidelines Submissions: Submissions must be in a Word format (‘.doc’ or ‘.docx’). Authorship: Co-authorship up to two authors is allowed. Refrain from mentioning the name, institutional affiliation, or any other detail of the author(s) in the document to facilitate the double-blind review process. Deadline: There is no deadline for the submission of Blog posts. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. Originality: All works must be original and unpublished. The plagiarism limit is 15%. Length: The word limit for the submission is 1000- 1500 words. This word limit is exclusive of the endnotes (if any). Longer posts may be accepted should the topic require an extensive discussion, and, if required, they may be published in parts, subject to the discretion of the editors. Headings: Authors are encouraged to use headings to break up long posts. Headings should not be of more than one level and should be in bold. Font and spacing: The title of the post must be formatted to Times New Roman font size 14, all Caps, and in bold. The main body of the text must be formatted to Times New Roman font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing with a single line space between paragraphs; and the end notes must be formatted to Times New Roman font size 10 with single line spacing. Referencing: All references must be in the form of hyperlinks in the body of the submission. In case no hyperlink is available for any reference, use of endnotes is recommended. The endnotes must be in conformity with the 4th edition of the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) style of citation. The author(s) are advised to give specific details, such as the Page or the Paragraph number of the reference, either in the body of the text itself or in the endnotes. No speaking endnotes or footnotes are allowed.   Review Process All texts will go through a double-blind peer review. The review process consists of two tiers – preliminary review and detailed review. At the end of the preliminary review, the authors will be informed of the Editorial Board’s decision of whether the submission is accepted or rejected for publication. This preliminary review is done within 7-8 working days. If a submission is accepted for publication, the Board will then conduct a detailed review process. Amendments and suggestions, if any, to the manuscript, shall be communicated to the authors at the earliest. The final publication of the manuscript is contingent on the incorporation of such suggestions to the satisfaction of the Editorial Board.   Editorial Policy The Editorial Board retains complete discretion over acceptance or rejection of manuscripts and it will not entertain requests for advance decisions based on abstracts, topic proposals or outlines. Post-review, manuscripts may be returned to the author(s) with suggestions related to substance and/or style. Upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication by the Editorial Board, the copyright is vested in the Blog. However, the moral rights over the manuscript shall vest in the author(s). Upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication, the same shall not be published on any other platform.
