About Department of Laws, Panjab University The Department of Laws, Panjab University was originally established in Lahore in 1889, re-established at Shimla in 1948, and finally re-located at the University Campus at Chandigarh in 1959.   About the Competition Liberalization of the economic policies of the countries around the globe began in the eighties, and in the nineties, the participating countries entered the phase of globalization. The challenges brought with them a wide range of changes in terms of the competitive capabilities of the respective domestic markets. Market-oriented reforms have become crucial both for developed and developing countries to achieve their development and growth goals. Law schools play an important role in instilling and encouraging the growth of competition law by hosting debates, panel discussions, and moot court competitions, as well as encouraging research and legal writing on the subject. As a result, the Department of Laws at Panjab University proposes to hold a two-day National Moot Court Competition on Competition Law.   Eligibility Students enrolled in a full-time Law Degree Programme i.e., Five-Years Integrated Law Degree Programme or Three-Year LL.B. Programme at the time of the competition are eligible to participate in the Competition. Each Law College/Law School/Law University shall nominate only one team. Thus, only one team will be eligible to participate from an Institution.   Language The official language of the Competition shall be English only.   How to Register? The participants as a team are requested to register online through the link provided at the end of this post. Only after filling google form and paying registration fees, the participation of teams shall be confirmed and the same shall be communicated on the e-mail ID given in the registration form. A maximum of 32 teams will be allowed to participate in the competition. Slots for participating in the competition will be filled on a basis of ‘First Come, First Serve Only’. A duly signed approval letter from the respective institution shall be required as part of the registration process. About GNLU Gujarat National Law University is a statutory University established by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003.   About the Centre The GNLU Centre for Research in Criminal Justice Sciences is dedicated to specialized studies in the field of Criminal Law, wherein the main objective is to encourage research and analysis in this dynamic field of law.   About the Competition The GNLU Centre for Research in Criminal Justice Sciences is organising the first edition of its Legislation Drafting Competition. The competition provides a remarkable opportunity for individuals to learn the nuances of legislative drafting and hone their skills in that respect. The competition will help the participant to understand the intricacies of the process of drafting from identifying the issues to striking a standard balance between the ideal and the pragmatic aspects. Legislative drafting fosters students’ capacity to observe the current legal issues and lacunas and offer solutions in that regard, as well as expand the horizons of their knowledge, analytical skills, and interpretation of the law.   Eligibility The competition welcomes students across all law schools to participate and help in the dissemination of ideas and experiences on the prescribed topic. The competition is open to all students pursuing LLM or LLB from a recognized Law College/University. There is no restriction on the number of participants from a particular university. The participant can register individually as well as in a team that may comprise a maximum number of 2 members.   Language English   Topic Prevention of Substance Abuse in Higher Educational Institutions and Schools   Submission Guidelines The text must be in Times New Roman with Size 12, line spacing should be set to 1.5, no paragraph spacing with a one-inch margin on each side, and the alignment of the text should be justified. Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, Size 10, with Single Line spacing. Page numbers must be given at the Top Right-Hand Corner. The draft shall not exceed 25 pages (excluding the cover page). The cover page of the submission should include the Long Title of the bill along with the name of the Author(s), with the Author’s designation. The Content of the legislature drafted should be original and not plagiarized (15% limit), or there shall be a deduction of 1 mark each for every percent or can lead to disqualification. The decision of the organizers shall be final. The breakdown of a section shall be as follows: SECTION 1. Balasaheb Apte College of Law offers a five years degree course and three years degree course.   About the Competition People’s Education Society’s ‘Adv. Balasaheb Apte College of Law’ is to host its tenth edition of the National level Intercollegiate Mock Trial, Judgement Writing and Moot Court Competition, from October 14 to 16, 2022 at Adv. Balasaheb Apte College of Law, Dadar (West), Mumbai. This Annual Event of Adv. Balasaheb Apte College of Law, Mumbai is hosted in the fond memory of Late Shri. Balwant Parshuram Apte (widely known as Adv. Balasaheb Apte), is a distinguished legal luminary and also a noted parliamentarian. This competition mainly envisages furthering the aim of Late. Shri. Balasaheb Apte, which was to attract students of law and young advocates towards the actual practice of advocacy and also to commemorate his contribution to the legal fraternity. This year the competition is based on the theme of Surrogacy laws. The uniqueness of this competition is that the competition shall not be confined to any proceedings of any single forum/court. The participants shall get an opportunity to experience the proceedings of a Trial court and the Supreme Court as well. The preliminary rounds shall be in the nature of a mock trial in the Court of Sessions, the subsequent rounds will be a Moot Court arising out of a Writ Petition filed in the Hon’ble Supreme Court challenging the constitutional validity of certain provisions of the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021.   Eligibility Bona-fide LL.B. students pursuing 3 or 5 years degree courses during the academic year 2022-23 are eligible to participate. The students must be deputed by their respective colleges. Students above the age of 25 years as of October 14, 2022, are not permitted to participate in this competition. Registration Procedure Only 24 teams will be registered to participate in the competition on a first-come-first-serve basis. The participants shall register their entries by emailing the duly filled and scanned Registration Form (soft copy) on or before, September 25, 2022, from their college official email-id to ‘[email protected]’ thereafter, the participants shall receive an acknowledgement on successful submission of their registration. The first 24 teams shall be receiving a confirmation mail on their selection for participation. To this end, CLJD invites students, scholars, and professionals (of any age group) from any discipline to submit audio/visual content capturing the essence of women’s rights and the prohibition of violence against women. The entries should seek to encapsulate and disseminate knowledge on laws and legal rights of women aggrieved by different forms of violence   Objectives of the Competition The competition opens up an opportunity to share your vision and raise awareness about violence against women, women’s legal rights, and access to justice for women. The goal is to disseminate legal awareness for creating gender sensitisation at the grass-root level.
