Pollution has been in existence since time immemorial.   It was in form of natural phenomena till the advancement of human civilization. With the growth of human population, the demand for goods and services amplified thereby contributing towards increased levels of almost all, old and new forms of pollutants. In 1972, the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held at Stockholm took a serious note of changing environmental patterns and human establishments. Since then nations throughout the world have been trying to curb the increased levels of pollution.  However, the pollutants continue to adversely affect individual health and environment. Air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, medical waste, bio-hazards etc. are some of the buzz words in the field of environmental science. Environmental Laws, Rules and regulations and various environment protection agencies continue to operate at different levels to control and mitigate pollution. Nonetheless, pollution stands to be emergent and ever growing. With this background, the Moot proposition delves into the intricacies of Environment, methods to control and mitigate the environmental pollution and contradictions with constitutional right to trade & business. The proposition contains a hypothetical situation which may soon become need of time. European Journal of Law and Technology (EJLT)
European Journal of Law and Technology (EJLT)

European Journal of Law and Technology is inviting a Call for Papers which relate generally to European issues in information and technology law from the legal fraternity globally.   About the Journal The origins of the journal lie in the Law Technology Journal which was published at Warwick University and supported by the CTI Law Technology Centre (now the UK Centre for Legal Education) and BILETA (British and Irish Legal Education Technology Association – as it was then known). The editor was Abdul Paliwala and dissemination of the journal was by print and also via ‘gopher’ technology (users “go for” information), a predecessor to the www which developed in the early 1990s. Now, the law of information and technology is becoming more and more harmonised and European Inter-University collaboration has become commonplace.  The journal’s core interests have not really changed since the early 1990s; its support from and close connection to BILETA has continued, so a change of title and approach simply means a refreshing of the ideas which gave impetus to the LTC and JILT in those early years. The journal will consider articles which cover more international aspects – such as developments in the international context – but these should be written in a comparative manner, and be of interest to a European readership.    Suggested Theme They are interested in topics which relate generally to European issues in information and technology law. Articles submitted might cover topical issues in intellectual property, media, use of technology in governance and legal education, crime, commerce, human rights issues, jurisprudence etc.   Types of Submissions Articles Commentaries Conference Paper/Research Papers Book Review Review Essays   Guidelines for Submissions The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor). The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. The EJLT can accept publications written only in the English language. Articles must be written using British English throughout (e.g., -ise, not ize, as in ‘nationalise’). The only exception to this is where ‘z’ is used in official names of organisations and when quoting text verbatim that follows American spelling. Articles should not normally exceed 12,000 words, including footnotes. We will exceptionally accept longer articles of sufficient quality up to a maximum of 15,000 words including footnotes where the author is prepared to cover the financial cost of extra desk editing. This is more of an exception than a rule, and the standard word limit, therefore, remains at 12,000 words and should be adhered to. The EJLT strongly recommends the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) as their preferred style, although this is not mandatory.    Submission Procedure for the Call for Papers Click here to submit at EJLT for a Call for Papers.   Contact Information EJLT Editorial: [email protected]

2nd Annual Tax Writing Competition for Students, by Bloomberg Tax
2nd Annual Tax Writing Competition for Students, by Bloomberg Tax

Bloomberg’s second annual tax-writing competition is now open for students to show off their work in writing on current events and issues in tax practice and policy.   The Bloomberg Tax Student Writing Competition If you have an original take on current events and issues in tax practice and policy—but you’re not yet a tax professional, then Bloomberg Tax’s second annual tax-writing competition is the perfect opportunity to show off your work. The competition is intended to highlight the very best of student writing.   How Does it Work? Write an article addressing a timely tax policy issue. We’re looking for a thoughtful analysis, not a news or legal summary. Pick a topic, take a position, and explain why it matters in the tax world. For example, you could focus on reporting foreign assets for U.S. taxpayers, sticking points for crypto transactions, or analyzing challenges related to enforcing the OECD’s Pillars One and Two. You can choose anything as long as it’s tax focused and policy oriented.   Submission Guidelines Entries should weigh in between 750 and 1,750 words. Entries beyond the word limit will be ignored. Works must be original and may not appear elsewhere. Bllomberg Tax doesn’t publish footnotes or endnotes, but you can hyperlink to sources. Be sure to credit any sources or quotes. You can submit charts or graphs to make your article more compelling, but you’re not required to do so.   Eligibility You must be a part-time or full-time law student at an accredited U.S. law school or foreign equivalent or a part-time or full-time student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate tax, accounting, or business degree. Co-authored or team papers are OK.   Submission Deadline The deadline for entries is 11:59 PM EDT on June 15, 2022 [9:29 AM IST on June 16, 2022].   How to Submit? Email all entries with “Student Submission” in the subject line to [email protected] Send the entry in plain text, either as a text file or typed directly in the body of the email or as a PDF. No other attachments or formats will be accepted—and for the love of S corporations, don’t send any zip files. Please include your full name, your school’s name, and your email address at the end of the entry- the organizers will redact this information for the judges, so this placement is critical.   Judging The Bloomberg Tax editorial staff—along with some special guests—will review entries without your identifying information. The judges are looking for a fresh point of view that shows a clear understanding of tax policy. Your paper should be convincing, thoroughly researched, and well-written.   Prizes This summer, the winning entry will be published and maybe some other standouts as one of the Bloomberg Tax Insights. And new this year, the student with the winning entry will also receive a one-year subscription to Bloomberg Tax so as not to miss any tax news and updates.
