NLIU-NLUD Global Symposium on Labour and Employment Laws
The Centre for Labour Laws, National Law Institute University, Bhopal (“NLIU Bhopal”) in collaboration with National Law University, Delhi (“NLU Delhi”) is organising a first of its kind ‘Global Symposium on Labour and Employment Laws (“GSLEL”) in February, 2022.
About National Law Institute University, Bhopal
The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), was established by the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, by an Act No. 41 of 1997 enacted by the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature. NLIU is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India. The university was established to fill the gap and provide most modern legal education through multidisciplinary teaching and training of newer skills needed for the profession. The University launched its first academic programme in 1998 and teaching for the five year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course commenced from September 1 of that year.
NLIU has been successful in instilling a sense of broad perspective along with scholastic and reflexive capabilities bearing in mind larger national and humanitarian goals in its students. Over the years, NLIU has been designing and delivering courses with a view to enhance the ability and capacity of the students, members of the faculty and other participants in avoiding and resolving problems under the framework of law.
About National Law University, Delhi
National Law University, Delhi (NLUD), was established by Act No. 1 of 2008 of National Capital Territory of Delhi, enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the NCT of Delhi on the 26th December 2007, in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India; and is also a member of Association of Indian Universities. The university was established to engage in teaching and research in law and allied disciplines. NLUD is working towards making legal education more accessible, diverse, equitable and inclusive. Adhering to its objective of imparting comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education, NLUD has played a vital role and has had a significant influence in transforming legal education in India since its establishment. Furthermore, the University works toward dissemination of legal knowledge and its role in national development, so that the ability to analyse and present contemporary issues of public concern and their legal implications for the benefit of the public is improved.
About the Centre for Labour Laws, NLIU Bhopal
The Centre for Labour Laws (CLL) was established in 2019, but hit the shot amidst the most uncertain times mankind had ever seen i.e. COVID-19 pandemic, due to its initiative christened as Mazdoor Mitra, wherein the plight of migrant workers during the initial phase of lockdown was in a blatant misery. A bearer of light and empathy then, CLL is one of its kind and serves as an embodiment of labour rights for the brick- bearers of our nation- the Labourers.
Over the short span of two years, CLL has taken various collective, collaborative and consistent initiatives to seek justice and spread general awareness, respect and empathy for the nation’s labour class. Nurtured, like a tender sapling is destined to grow and become a strong tree, by our beloved Chairperson, Mr. Mahendra Soni, CLL aims to create a better and equitable tomorrow for our Labourers & Workmen across the nation through its activities and initiatives.
About the Symposium
Centre for Labour Laws, National Law Institute University, Bhopal in collaboration with National Law University, Delhi is delighted to host its maiden Global Symposium to enable discussions on key issues and new developments in the field of Labour and Employment Laws in the international arena. This symposium will be the first of its kind across Law universities in the entire country
Symposium Objective
The overall objective of the symposium is to provide a platform and stimulate discussion on issuessurrounding labour, employment and otherrelated laws.
Attendees
GSLEL will provide an opportunity for students from undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral qualification, academics and scholars, practitioners, consultants, researchers, and policy makers from different backgrounds across the world, to present their papers in the symposium and to discuss their experiences, findings or issues, new ideas, research results, as well as any practical challenges encountered and/or the solutions adopted during their work. At the symposium, all abstract/papers will be presented in English.

Timeline
15 October, 2021 – Release for Call for Abstracts
15 November, 2021 – Last date to submit the Abstracts
30 November, 2021 – Last date to approve and intimate the approval of the abstracts by the Editorial Team to the Author(s)
15 December, 2021 – Last date to Register for the Symposium for the Author(s) whose abstract have been approved
31 December, 2021 – Last date to submit the full paper by the Author(s)
Registration Process
Step 1: Abstract Submission
The acceptance of the paper will be based on abstracts. All submitted abstracts will undergo a blind review. An abstract/proposal between 300 to 500 words, clearly summarising the arguments, should be submitted before the deadline. All abstracts must be submitted in English, through an email to "[email protected]" with a subject line "Submission of Abstract_GSLEL".
Step 2: Notification of Acceptance
The Centre will inform its decision within two weeks, after the last date of abstract submission and notify the authors of the same.
Step 3: Final Paper submission
The academic papers for which abstracts have been accepted and registered for the symposium will be considered for final paper presentation, following a peer review process. The full paper must be submitted before the deadline, in compliance with the papersubmission guidelines.
Step 4: Results
The decision regarding the final selection for paper presentation will be communicated within two weeks afterthe deadline ofsubmission.
Step 5: Registration
After the final selection of the paper, the authors/ co-authors will be required to fulfil the registration process by filling the registration form and paying the registration fees. Registration fee includes the expenses for participation in the symposium, publication of the contribution, symposium attendance e-certificate, lunch during symposium, badge, symposium bag and/or symposium accessories and refreshment breaks.
Co-Author(s) Registration: If co-author(s) is also presenting/attending the symposium, each co-author has to register individually for the symposium by completing the registration form.
Any person who wishes to attend the Symposium can register via a separate form only for attendees. A certificate will also be issued to the attendee.
The accommodation for the attendees/author(s) could be arranged by the organisers at a nominal fee which will be notified later.
Step 6: Payment
Upon submission of the registration form, the participants can pay their registration fee by PayPal, Google pay or Debit/Credit Card. The amount of fee to be paid by each author (Indian) will be ? 2000/- & foreign author it will be INR 2500/-. Step 7: Symposium
Participants will be notified of the final itinerary of the symposium at least 15 daysin advance of the symposium.
Step 8: Publication
The best papers will be given an opportunity to be published in the form of an edited book on the said theme with an ISBN number. The papers must qualify the double-blind peerreview standards of the editorial board to be published.

Submission Guidelines
An abstract/proposal between 300 to 500 words, clearly summarising thearguments,should be submitted to [email protected]. The file should be titled as: “Abstract_(Name of the Article)”
The preferred length of the full paper (excluding footnotes) is 5,000-6,000 words (maximum limit). Authors must confine the paper between 12-15 pages, inclusive of everything. It must also include an Abstract (not more than 500 words) and 3-5 keywords.
Authors’ autobiographical detailsshould be sent along with the contribution in a separate word document titled as “Cover Letter”, and shall include the name, academic & professional qualifications, institutional affiliation, currenttitle, position of each author and an address for correspondence. Co- authorship up to two authorsis allowed.
The paper must be written in British English, typed using Times New Roman (Normal style, Font size 12) and in MS-Word. Page size should be A4, single column with 2.5 cm(1 inch) margin on all sides with single line spacing. All pages of the manuscript (including Tables and Figures) must be numbered. Submissions only in the .docx or.doc format will be accepted.
Authors are expected to adhere strictly to the deadlines, and no extension will be granted, by the organizers, to any participant on any grounds whatsoever.
Acceptance of Abstracts does not guarantee a publication in the Edited Book. After the submission, if the piece is considered suitable for publication, it will be subjected to double-blind peer review process. The decision regarding the same will be informed to the Author(s) within due course of time.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit, change, shorten and add to your article for the original edition and for any subsequent revision along with the right to republish the article as part of an anthology in later years: provided that the meaning of the text is not materially altered.
It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that all references and citations are correct, and that the contribution does not contain any material that infringes copyright, or is defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful or litigious.
The citations must conform to OSCOLA (Oxford Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities) Citing and Referencing Style. Citation of sources should appear in both, the body of the text (an in-text citation) and at the end of the work (a reference list).
Copyright in the article shall be vested jointly with the author(s) of the submission and the Publisher. By submitting an article for the symposium, the author(s) of the submission grants the publisher with a license to publish the article and warrants that s/he is the owner of all the copyrights of the article. Where the author subsequently wishes to publish the article, the author is requested to obtain prior permission from the Editorial Board of the symposium and acknowledge that the article first appeared in the symposium proceedings.
The Author(s) will indemnify and defend the Publisher against any claim, demand or recovery against the Publisher by reason of any violation of any proprietary right or copyright, or because of any libellous or scandalous matter contained in the Manuscript. The Author(s) shall submit an undertaking to the same effect.
