Legathon: A Legal Tech Competition by Saveetha School of Law, Chennai

Saveetha School of Law is organising the Legathon competition for the judicial system to meet the technology sector on June 17, 2022. About the College Saveetha School of Law was established in 2009 with the vision of imparting top-quality legal education to its students. About Legathon In the 21st century, society’s needs are different, and people want their utilities and services at their fingertips or on their tables. So as students, professionals, educators etc., we can’t just put up hopes over the prevailing systems and mechanisms – modern problems need modern solutions. If we want a modern answer to modern problems now or in the future, we’ll need preventative measures and mechanisms, as well as speedier justice for crime victims. To make this vision a reality, society must prepare for the digital age’s unknowns. Therefore, Saveetha Law School is hosting the Legathon, a legal tech competition for the judicial system to meet the technology sector and ease the problems that are already existing in the legal field and to come up with new ideas to innovate the legal field. The Saveetha Law School, Chennai is launching the Legathon as a way to encourage Students, IT Professionals, Application Developers etc., to use their talents and imaginations to come up with creative solutions to some of the Industry’s most complicated and unmet needs. The college is looking for creative solutions to today’s legal issues, from all the sectors of the country as mentioned above. Participation Categories DileEante (For Students only) Deft (For Professionals) The participants of the above mentioned two categories should assess the stages below and participate in the Legathon in any of the three stages mentioned below: Stage 1: Planning/ Emphathising Stage (Any new idea which has not been commercially exploited through a product) Stage 2: Prototype Design Stage (The idea was found to be executable and if proceeded with a design a prototype can be made) Stage 3: Testing and Implementation of Prototype (The prototype has satisfied the criteria for MVP and is ready to go to market) Selection Criteria Novelty and clarity of the idea, practicality, practicability, and sustainability of the idea, as well as the extent of the idea’s influence on society at large, will be the selection criteria. Submission Rules In any category and stage, a team can only submit one proposal/idea, and the submission deadline must be carefully adhered to. There will be no further extensions granted. Only the required format should be used to submit each team’s proposal. After the deadline, requests for changes to the proposal/ idea will not be considered. Rewards 1st Prize: INR 5000 2nd Prize: INR 3000 3rd Prize: INR 2000 Besides the financial prizes, participants will also have the option to work on their original work in collaboration with Saveetha School of Law. The winners will be announced by the end of the event or before June 18, 2022. Competition Guidelines A team must have a minimum of three members and a maximum of five. The registration form and proposal must specify the team’s type (DileEante/Deft) and stage of entry/submission. It is not possible to change the team composition after it has been submitted. Teams from the same institution or organisation are not limited. It is possible for a team to have members from different organisations. A student team can only have students on it who are officially enrolled in a Law School/ College that has been approved by the NAAC. There is only one category for teams with at least one professional member: the professional one. The name and contact information for the team’s leader should be included in the job description. The team leader will be the only person who can provide information about the competition to the rest of the team members. Each team’s presentation time will be made clear in advance at the introduction of the event in SSL campus. The entire team will be disqualified if any member of the team misbehaves during the competition. In order for an idea to be considered innovative, it must address a problem in the ‘Law or Legal Profession’. If the registration of candidates exceeds a certain limit, the topic would be narrowed down to ‘Constitutional Law’. Participants shall submit the proof of payment in the google form without fail, non-submission of proof will terminate the registration of the participants and their funds will refunded if debited from their A/C. The interplay of AI with International Law, Finance, IPR, and Defence is fast moving with unfathomable impact on growth and development. AI opens doors to numerous opportunities in several fields. There is little doubt that the marriage of technology and finance will continue to drive significant changes for both customers and financial institutions. The idea of AI-assisted advancements in the defence sector has strengthened the military capabilities. IJCLSI seeks to provide an interactive platform for the publication of Short Articles, Long Articles, Book reviews, Case comments, Legislative comments, and Research Papers in the field of Law. The aim of IJCLSI is to spread legal awareness and bring out and propagate the opinion of the legal fraternity and provide a forum for interaction between academia, practitioners, and students. Each issue of IJCLSI is devoted to the vast areas of legal studies. Theme The theme of the journal includes any and all areas related to Law. Publication Fees The publication fees mentioned below has to be paid after acceptance of manuscript: Single Author: Rs. 800/- Co-Author: Rs. 1000/- Eligibility Law students pursuing the three-year LL. B, as well as the five-year integrated LL.B. program, students pursuing LL.M. or Ph.D., Research Associates, Academicians, Educators, and professionals and practitioners in any field of Law are eligible to submit. Word Limits Following word limit should strictly be adhered to: Short Articles: (1500-2500 words, including footnotes) Long Articles: (2500+ words, including footnotes) Research Papers: (2000+ words, including footnotes) Book Reviews: (1000-3500 words, including footnotes) Case Comments: (1000-2500 words, including footnotes) Legislative Comments: (1000-2500 words, including footnotes) Submission Guidelines The main body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman style, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and footnotes in Times New Roman Style, Size 10, with 1.0 line spacing. All headings must have uniform formatting. The first page of the manuscript should contain the name of the paper, the name of the authors followed by an abstract. The second page should commence with the main body of the manuscript. Texts and footnotes should conform to the Bluebook 20th Edition. Submission Deadline The deadline for submissions for the second issue is May 24, 2022. While submissions shall be accepted across the year, those made after the deadline will be considered for the forthcoming issues. Certificates Authors shall receive a soft copy of Certificate of Publication and a Certificate of Excellence. Internships Deserving authors shall be offered internships in the capacity of an Editorial Board Member. How to Submit?
