D.M. Harish Memorial Government Law College International Moot Court Competition

********************* THIS EVENT FOR THE YEAR 2021 HAS ENDED ********************* About the Organizer-GLC Mumbai The Government Law College, Mumbai (GLC Mumbai), founded in 1855, is the oldest law school in Asia. The college, affiliated with the University of Mumbai, is run by the Government of Maharashtra. Pratibha Patil, former President of India, and five Chief Justices of India, as well as several judges of the Supreme Court of India, are alumni of the college. About the Moot The Moot Court Association is pleased to announce the 22nd edition of the D. M. Harish Memorial Government Law College International Online Moot Court Competition (DMH), hosted by Government Law College, Mumbai, India, in association with the D. M. Harish Foundation. This edition will be conducted on an online platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition will be held from 27th – 28th March 2021. DMH is India’s first International Moot Court Competition. It started in the year 2000 as a National Moot Court Competition and has been open to international entrants for the past fifteen years. It has seen the keen participation of a number of teams from across all continents. The Compromis of the Competition deals primarily with issues relating to Public International Law, highlighting the emerging legal landscape and has been drafted by experts in the field. The participants are made to go through extensive Mooting Rounds, to ensure that only the two best Teams reach the Final Round of Arguments. All participants are also to present their Written Submissions a month prior to the Competition. The application will be confirmed within 72 hours of receiving the email. The organisers shall invite ONLY those Indian Universities/Colleges, which had qualified to the Quarter Final Rounds in the 21st D. M. Harish Memorial Government Law College International Moot Court Competition to participate in the competition. The invited Universities/Colleges will be given a priority in registration. The invited colleges must provisionally register themselves by sending an email to [email protected]. The provisional registration will be confirmed within 72 hours of receiving the email. Registration Fee A nominal registration fee of INR 2500 shall be charged to all the Indian Universities/Colleges. A registration fee of USD 65 will be charged to all the Overseas Universities. Overseas Universities will include all Universities/Colleges/Schools that are not situated in India. The Registration fee charged for Indian Universities/Colleges must be submitted by NEFT. The details for making payment of registration fees via NEFT will be provided once the provisional registration has been confirmed. The Registration fee charged for Overseas Universities/Colleges, must be submitted by Wire Transfer, the details of which will be provided after receiving the application. General Eligibility Students enrolled in a full-time or part-time law programme at the time of the competition are eligible to compete in the Competition. Each College/Law School or University may enter one team ONLY. Team Composition Each team shall have three (3) members only, consisting of two (2) speakers and one (1) researcher. Certification shall not be awarded to an additional member. Official Language The official language of the Competition is English. All Competition Rounds including the written submissions (memorials) will be in English. Registration The duly completed Google Form for Registration with all team details and NEFT/Wire Transfer must be submitted to the Moot Court Association on or before 12th February 2021 by 11:59 p.m. (IST) for teams participating. No change in the names of the participants shall be permitted after the receipt of the Registration Form, except at the sole discretion of the Organisers. Dress Code The dress code for the rounds of the competition shall be as prescribed by the Rules of the Court of Jurisdiction. The dress code for all the rounds of the competition shall be western formals for gentlemen and western or traditional formals for ladies. Competition Rounds The competition shall be held over a period of three days and will comprise two (2) Preliminary Rounds, one (1) Octo-Final Round*, (1) Quarter-Final Round, one (1) Semi-Final Round and one (1) Final Round of Arguments. Awards An e-certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 36,000/- for the Best Team and an e- certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 27,000/- for the 2nd Best Team. An e-certificate and a cash prize of Rs 15,000/- for the Best Memorial and an e-certificate and cash prize of Rs. 12,000/- for the Runner-up Memorial. An e-certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 14,000/- for the Best Speaker, an e-certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- for the 2nd Best Speaker and an e-certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 14,000/- for the Best Speaker in the Final Round of Arguments. The Best Speaker and Runner up Speaker Awards will be determined by the Total Scores in the Preliminary Rounds of the Competition by adding the four (4) judges' scores from two (2) Preliminary Rounds. The total score from those two (2) Rounds shall be averaged to determine the Speaker's ranking, whereas the Best Speaker in the Final Round of Arguments will be determined on the basis of the Individual speaker scores in the Final Round of Arguments. NALSAR Justice BR Sawhney Memorial Moot Court

********************* DATES FOR THE YEAR 2021 ARE AWAITED ********************* About the Organisation The 13th NALSAR Justice Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Moot Court Competition is being organised from 6th March to 8th March 2020 in collaboration with Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust (BRSMT) and Eastern Book Company (EBC) and SCC Online as Knowledge Partners. About the Moot The Competition will be held at NALSAR University of Law, ‘Justice City’, Shamirpet, Hyderabad. The Moot shall be judged by esteemed lawyers involved in the practice of Constitutional Law from across the country and judicial clerks from the Supreme Court of India. Administration The NALSAR- Justice B.R. Sawhny Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition (“Competition”) is held and administered by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad with the aid of the Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust. SCC Online and EBC are associated as Knowledge Partners. The Competition is to be held on March 06-08, 2020 at NALSAR University of Law, Justice City, Shameerpet, Hyderabad. Oral Rounds and Memorial submission shall be in English. Structure of the Competition The Competition consists of two levels: (a) Memorial Elimination Round and (b) National Rounds. The teams which qualify for the Memorial Elimination Round shall be allowed to participate in the National Rounds, which is comprised of Preliminary Rounds and Advanced Rounds viz. Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals. Eligibility Each Institution offering an undergraduate LL.B. DegreeCourse is eligible to participate in the same. A Team may not have members from more than one Institution. Similarly, no more than one team can participate from any Institution. The Competition is open for students in LL.B. Undergraduate Degree Courses and LL.M. Degree Courses. Team Composition Each team shall comprise a minimum of two members, both performing the role of Speaker or a maximum of three members consisting of two (2) Speakers and one (1) Researcher. The substitution of any Team Member is not allowed after the registration deadline except in extenuating circumstances and only with the written permission of the National Coordinator. Every team shall consist of two speakers. Teams may have only one researcher. A researcher shall be allowed to argue instead of a speaker only with the permission of the Court. No certificate nor accommodation shall be provided to a fourth member. The email should contain the duly filled in a scanned copy of the Registration Form. Each registered team would be allotted a provisional Team Code. Registration Fee (After Memorial Elimination Round) Teams that clear the Memorial Elimination Round and are invited to participate in the Moot Court Competition as per Rule 4.5 must send a registration fee of Rs. 6,500/- via Online Transfer (NEFT) latest by 29th February 2020. CCI-NUJS Moot Court Competition

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata has collaborated with the Competition Commission of India to bring to you the 3rd CCI-NUJS National Moot Court Competition 2021 from July 9th, 2021 to July 11th, 2021. About the University The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences was established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999 (West Bengal Act IX of 1999) adopted by the West Bengal Legislature in July 1999. The University was notified under Clause (f) of Section 2 of the UGC Act, 1956 in August 2004 and has been granted permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India in July 2005. The Chief Justice of India is the Chancellor of the University. About the Competition Commission of India The Competition Act, 2002, as amended by the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2007 prohibits anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position by enterprises and regulates combinations (acquisition, acquiring of control and M&A), which causes or likely to cause an appreciable adverse effect on competition within India. The objectives of the Act are sought to be achieved through the Competition Commission of India, consisting of a Chairperson and 6 Members appointed by the Central Government. It is the duty of the Commission to eliminate practices having an adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition, protect the interests of consumers and ensure freedom of trade in the markets of India. issues. About the Moot Competition Law is an upcoming area of law that seeks to promote fair and just trade practices. It regulates competition in the market by maintaining a check on anti-competitive conduct and ensures that market players refrain from the same. Modern Competition Law has evolved on a national level with the promotion and maintenance of fair-trade practices in markets, within the domestic boundaries of a nation-state. Law schools play an important role in inculcating and encouraging the growth of competition law, by organizing debates, panel discussions, moot court competitions and encouraging research and legal writing pertaining to this subject. Introduction The administrator of the Competition shall be the Competition Committee (the “CC”) as constituted by the Society for International Trade and Competition Law (SITC), NUJS. The Competition shall be conducted in accordance with these Rules, and all teams and participants shall be presumed to have read and understood these Rules. A two-member team comprising of only two Oralists with no Researcher will also be permitted. A minimum of two members will thus be required for each team. Teams would not be allowed to have any observer members. Outside Assistance to Teams All research, writing and editing must solely be the product of Team members. Use of Opposing Team's Written Submissions No Team shall be allowed to view or otherwise be privy to any Written Submission other than the respective Appellant and Respondent written submissions of the teams they face during the course of the Competition. K.K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court

The Competition The Oral Rounds of the K. K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court, 2022 [“the Competition”] will be held from the 10th to the 16th of January 2022 through a video-conferencing platform. Eligibility Members of the team must be valid UNDERGRADUATE students pursuing a recognized Bachelor of Law (or international equivalent) programme. (Note – Bachelor of Law means a 3 or year course post-graduation or 5 years integrated course for Indian students or an undergraduate degree in law recognized by the Bar or Regulator of where the student is undergoing education). Only ONE team can register from a particular College or Law School for participation in the competition. In the event two registrations are received from the same College or Law School, the Team which submits a letter first by the Head / Dean of the Institution / Moot Court Committee, authorizing them to participate on behalf of the College or Law School shall be entitled to participate and will be registered. Team Composition Each team shall consist of two speakers and one researcher or two speakers only. The Organizers will assign a code to each team and its members. Registration The teams will have to register themselves at http://www.kkluthramoot.org by completing and submitting the Registration Form available on the website no later than 10.00 pm [IST] on 31.10.2021. Upon successful completion and submission of the Registration Form, each team will receive an email from the Organizers informing them of their successful Registration. If a team does not receive such an email, it may contemporaneously send an email with its registration details to [email protected] and a response will be sent by email by the Organizers within 07 (seven) days informing the team of its successful Registration. Registration Forms will have to be completed and submitted with all material particulars by the teams. Please note that incomplete Registration Forms shall not be accepted. The composition of the team cannot be changed once a team has registered. There is no Registration Fee for registering or participating in the competition. The top 60 teams with the highest memorial scores (subject to a minimum qualifying mark of 8 marks out of 20 marks in the Memorial Round) will be entitled to participate in the Oral Rounds. Nani Palkhivala Memorial Tax Moot Court Competition

Administration Nani A. Palkhivala Memorial National Tax Moot Court Competition is presented by the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners and Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai. The Competition is to be held from 26th November 2021 – 28th November 2021 on a virtual platform. A person may be a Team Member if he or she: is pursuing a law degree or an international law-related degree; is enrolled at an eligible institution as a full-time student during the relevant Competition Year and plans to participate in the Competition on behalf of that institution; has not engaged in the practice of law in any jurisdiction after graduating from any type of law degree program, and is not pursuing any post-graduate degree programme from any university or institution. The last date for registration will be 30th November 2019. The number of participant teams from India shall be limited to 20. The preference to teams shall be given in order of their registration. The organizing committee will have the sole and absolute discretion to shortlist the participants. The decision of the organizing committee will be final and binding on all concerned. The shortlisted teams will be required to reconfirm their participation and their acceptance of being bound by the rules of the competition within the time stipulated by the organizing committee. It shall be compulsory for all the participants to be present at the inaugural programme, final Round and valedictory function of the competition. Madhava Menon Asian Mooting, Students' Conference and Judicial Colloquium - India Round aims at honing legal advocacy skills among law students of Asian countries. The Seventh Prof. N. R. British High Commission - Jindal Global University Moot Court Competition

The Competition is organized by Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University and the British High Commission [“BHC”]. About the Moot The moot concerns legal issues on which the British High Commission works in its engagement with its British and Indian citizens, especially with criminal cases where British citizens are involved as perpetrators or victims of crimes, on Indian soil. The moot gives participants a novel opportunity to create a “Strategy Note” as their first submission in the preliminary round. In this innovative format that is a cross between client counselling and a moot court competition, the first round will be a hands-on experience where teams will put their thinking caps on and tackle legal and extra-legal strategies to work with a set of British clients. Based on the “Strategy Note,” 8 teams will make it through to the advanced rounds where the final problem will be tackled in a classic moot format. The top 16 will receive certificates of ‘honourable mention’ for their stellar performance in the first round. The Grand Finale will take place at the BHC headquarters in Delhi, with judges from Inner Temple, U.K. and Chevening Scholars. Students enrolled for research degrees are not eligible to participate. These requirements do not apply to coaches or advisors to the teams. Number of Team Members Teams shall comprise of three members, with two speakers and one researcher. No other individual may assist the team with researching, writing, editing or otherwise constructing its arguments. Failure to observe this rule may result in disqualification. Team Coaches or Advisors and Observers Each team may register only one (1) coach/advisor in addition to the team members. The participation of observers affiliated with the team must be communicated to the OC before the last date for registration and must be approved by the OC. Observers are allowed to attend merely in an observational capacity and are not allowed to assist the team or communicate with them in any manner during the pendency of Oral Rounds. The team coach/advisor shall not be allowed to contribute towards the preparation of the written submissions of the Team and shall not be allowed to function as a speaker or researcher during oral pleadings. A coach/advisor should limit their role to providing general guidance with respect to the subject matter of the Competition. Registration To participate in the moot, teams will have to fill an application indicating their intention to be part of the moot. The OC shall have the discretion to select teams amongst those who apply, ensuring regional and gender parity as far as possible. At the time of registration, teams shall select an official point of contact from the participating team who will be responsible for all official correspondence between the team and the OC. Changes to the registered information will not normally be permitted. Exceptional circumstances may be brought to the attention of the OC, who may permit modifications on a discretionary basis. The decision of the OC shall be final in this regard. After registration, participating teams will be provided with a Team Code, which will serve as their unique identifier for submitting the Strategy Note and at the Oral Rounds. Teams shall strictly only use their Team Code and shall not disclose the names of their Universities or names of individual team members on their submitted Strategy Notes, or in the presence of judges, during the Competition. Best Oralist – Finals There will be an award for the Best Oralist in the finals. This prize will be decided by comparing the individual scores of speakers only in the finals. In the event that the finals are determined by consultation/deliberation amongst judges, this award will also be determined by consultation/deliberation amongst the judges. It gives us immense pleasure to announce the 10th edition of the National Moot Court Competition, 2021 (NMCC) in association with the Competition Commission of India, which is set to take place from April 16th to 18th, 2021. Owing to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, this time the event is set to take place virtually. This edition’s problem is based on contemporary and developing aspects of Competition Law along with Intellectual Property Rights. TNNLU-CCI National Online Moot Court Competition

About the Moot Competition law is a rapidly developing field of law although being relatively new in the Indian legal sphere. The applicability of Competition law is wide and is spread across various disciplines of commerce, consumer protection, and jurisprudence of free trade and is constantly evolving. In this connection, the TNNLU – CCI Moot aims to further the vision of the CCI by promoting, sustaining, and enabling young scholars and providing a platform for engagement and discourse. The MCC of TNNLU has been regularly conducting various inter and intra-moot court competitions since 2014. The first edition of the National Moot Court Competition was organized from 24th to 26th March 2017. In 2018, MCC collaborated with the Indian Fair-Trade Regulator, Competition Commission of India (CCI) for the first time to organize the 1st edition of the TNNLU – CCI National Moot Court Competition which saw large participation from law students all over India. The 2nd TNNLU – CCI National Moot Court Competition conducted in 2019, and the 3rd edition in 2020. This year we are happy to collaborate with CCI once again to organize the 4th edition from May 28th – 30th, 2021. The moot problem is based on ‘crisis cartelization’ during a pandemic. Registration General Rules for Registration In this edition of the competition, the registration will be restricted to only 24 Teams of which 16 teams will qualify for the preliminary round through the memorial qualifier round. All the Teams desirous of participating in the Competition should provisionally register themselves by sending an email to [email protected] through the Moot Court Committee of their Institution/College/University or the Faculty Coordinator of the Moot Court Committee. Final registration formalities should be completed by the Team only after receiving an affirmative reply from the OC to the provisional registration email. Institutions may provisionally register and reserve a slot. However, the slot will be revoked if the team fails to complete the registration process. Provisional Registration Provisional Registration for the Competition shall open on 16th March 2021. Institutions can temporarily block a slot by writing to the Organizers at [email protected]. Institutions will receive a response immediately regarding the availability of slots and reservation of the same. Institutions that have provisionally registered must complete the registration process by April 12, 2021. The XIV Edition This year National Law School of India (NLSIU) in association with Trilegal, brings you the XIV Edition of the NLS-Trilegal International Arbitration Moot, set to take place from 20th to 23rd May 2021. After successfully conducting the virtual rounds in 2020, with the knowledge and skills gained, the organizing team of NLSTIAM is glad to welcome universities from all over the world for its 14th edition. The four-day program will provide a platform for students from diverse backgrounds and cultures to interact and challenge their skills as future practitioners in the field of international arbitration. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsisting safety guidelines, we have decided to hold virtual rounds. The committee will be utilizing online communication platforms such as Zoom to provide the peerless virtual round experience as expected by the teams. Furthermore, owing to our past year's experience of conducting an online Mooting environment, we hope to bring our expertise to the table to provide a smoother experience for all teams. A recognized institution shall be entitled to send only one team to the competition, whether from the Undergraduate or Post Graduate law course, or a mixed team. In a system where a university has constituent colleges, each college can register a team or the university as such can be represented by a team comprising students from different constituent colleges. Team Composition A team can have a minimum of two members and a maximum of four members. In each of the oral rounds, two members of the team will be speakers. Other members of the team shall not aid them during the presentation of arguments in any way whatsoever. Different members of the team can be speakers in different oral rounds. However, to be eligible for the award for Best Individual Speaker mentioned in Rule 15.3, a participant must have argued at least once for the Claimant and once for the Respondent during the preliminary rounds. The average score per argument will be calculated and the award will be determined on that basis. Once registered, a team will not be permitted to vary the composition of the team in any manner. Changes, if any, may only be made with the express permission of the administrators (at their discretion), if the due reason is shown for the same. Any changes with respect to the contact details shall be notified to the administrators with immediate effect. This obligation to inform shall continue throughout the course of the Competition Certificates for participating team members will be prepared from the team lists submitted. The certificates of participation will show the names of the team members exactly as they have been submitted. It is therefore incumbent on teams to ensure that names are spelt and presented correctly. Registration Each team shall register for the moot by filling the online registration form before March 10, 2021, and March 20, 2021 (GMT) for Indian and International Teams respectively. The online registration form that needs to be filled is available here and on the official website of the Competition. The teams are strongly encouraged to complete the registration form at the earliest possible. While filling the registration form, the teams have to choose a primary contact person. All communications concerning the Moot will be sent by e-mail to the nominated contact person. It is that person’s responsibility to convey all relevant information and distribute all relevant material to the team. Registration Fee The registration fee for both Indian and overseas teams is INR 3,000. The registration fee is non-refundable and has to be paid by all teams, irrespective of whether they qualify for the oral rounds. Payment of Registration Fee The registration fee for the Moot is to be paid online, the details of which shall be notified by the organizers in due course of time. Any transfer fees or any other incidental charges must be paid by the transferor. The wire transfer must also indicate the name of the institution for which the transfer has been made. All teams must email a scanned copy of the payment receipt to [email protected]. The payment receipt must be emailed to the organisers within 3 days of the expiry of the deadline of payment. After the payment of the registration fees (initial or final), an email must be sent to [email protected], with the details of the transaction. This is mandatorily required. Once a team is registered after filling in the registration form, a team code shall be assigned to it by the administrators. This team code will serve as their unique identifier both for Memorials and at the oral rounds. Any team that fails to send the details of the payment of fees shall not be allocated a team code. The administrators reserve the absolute discretion to refuse or cancel the registration of any team. Competition Format The Competition shall consist of preliminary rounds and advanced rounds. Each team shall argue in four (4) Preliminary Rounds: twice as Claimant and twice as Respondent. The Advanced Rounds shall, unless otherwise specified, consist of three knock-out rounds – the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and the Final. The scoring and tabulation for the competition shall be based on a Round Points (“RP”) system. Each preliminary round will be decided on a scale of 9 round points, with 6 round points allocated to the oral round scores, and 3 round points allocated to the memorandum scores. Prizes and Awards The winner of the Final Round will be declared the “Winning Team”, while the losing finalists will be declared the “Runners-Up”. The Teams with the highest total memorandum score (out of 200) for each side will be awarded the “Best Memorandum – Claimant” and “Best Memorial- Respondent” awards respectively. The speaker with the highest average score at the conclusion of the preliminary rounds will be adjudged the “Best Speaker”. The average score will be calculated by dividing the total marks of each speaker by the number of times the speaker has presented oral arguments. To be eligible for the “Best Speaker Award”, a speaker must have argued at least once for the Claimant and once for the Respondent in the preliminary rounds.
